The Hoad Monument, above Ulverston in Cumbria, England.
This is the pic windows XP wishes it had on release
Hah, I wish! You do wonder how much the photographer for that wallpaper made…
If you believe the internet, then “bliss” made quite a bit initially.
The stone wall isnt enough to tell people to keep out, they had to add barbed wire as well.
The wall is dry stone; there’s no mortar holding it together. The barbed wire is to stop dafties climbing on it
Exactly right.
I recognized the Monument and had to click on to double check! Amazing 360° views from there.
Yea, I live in south Cumbria. I couldn’t believe someone on Lemmy would set foot in my neck of the woods, but here we are.
I’m in Kendal! Not a hardship to get to bonny Ulverston.
This is where we find out that we’re all Cumbrians - like some kind of weird Truman Show. I wouldn’t live anywhere else though, tried London for 6 years… Came straight back.
Aye, in all my time living in Cumbria I’d never ventured up the Hoad. Superb views.
This picture has such a style it could be on a stamp. Looks beautiful.
Thanks!
