the hard link in the body text is generated when there is body text in the original post

That post does not have a link, the URL is how Lemmy connects the posts together, it just finds posts that are pointing to the same URL

That’s because the original post did not have body text only a link

the sh.itjust.works link is just the body text of the post, it’s not really part of Lemmy’s UI
Lemmy does fill it in automatically when you start a crosspost and there is body text, but it’s just plain text
it’s useful if your instance isn’t able to find the crosspost automatically, but the automatic links are easier when they do exist like in your screenshot
The whole thing is unpredictable and confusing
I’m not gonna disagree on this lol

Both links probably go to the same place. The difference being one link is directly to the post (which is hosted on the OP’s home instance, not the community’s) and the other link is in your own instance

13.47 years on spinning rust, very nice!

you should comment on my Github feature request to bump it lol

Communities like /c/pigeon@mander.xyz & /c/stick@sh.itjust.works
The !communityname@instancename format works better, it’s more universal to other platforms/apps. !pigeon@mander.xyz and !stick@sh.itjust.works
I do find a few things annoying about the federation system, like opening links directly to lemmy.world on my desktop an having to surgically recreate the link on my instance if I want to interact with it at all.
You can copy paste the URL into you instance’s search box.
But I do think we also need this feature https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/2318

I’d rather leave things as default when possible, /tmp/ being the public tmpfs and /run/user/1000/ being the private tmpfs

yea, in Spectacle click the Options, Configure Spectacle
in General, check “Save file to default folder”

and in Image Saving, set the Save Location

Because /tmp/ is accessible by any user

yea it does, but it’s pretty minimal
mine is at 3.7 MB with 23 png files (I always use the rectangle select, not full screenshot)

I don’t see your post. I think in Brave you would have to click to expand the Sidebar in order to make a post

for a phone I would better suggest Boost, Connect, or Summit

I joined discuss.online but is that the same as lemmy?
yes that’s a part of Lemmy, that’s all you need
I don’t understand the fediverse at all. The instances are confusing.
It’s kinda like email. Think of it like you’re on Gmail, I’m on Yahoo Mail, and the pottery community is on MSN. We can all talk to each other because we do like @mangobanana@gmail.com (in reality you’re at discuss.online) and @die4ever@yahoo.com (I’m at retrolemmy.com). Usernames start with an like Twitter, community names start with an !
So when you do a “Local” search you only see stuff from “Gmail” like yourself, but usually you want to search “All” not “Local”.
For viewing posts on my feed I prefer “Subscribed”, this can be set as your default in your settings page.
have you tried an app on your phone? they can be a bit simpler to use than the website https://join-lemmy.org/apps
here’s another community that might help !newtolemmy@lemmy.ca

yay for public Mod Log, underrated feature

when you search for a community, make sure you’re searching “All” communities instead of just “Local” communities
this one already exists !pottery@lemmy.world

PieFed definitely has better onboarding

I want a simple and easy to use interface, like rif.
I also used to use RIF. Have you tried Boost for Lemmy? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rubenmayayo.lemmy&hl=en_US
It was edited in or written manually, the user can do it by hand if they wish
unless they’re using a weird frontend, it wouldn’t do that
