I don’t think I’ve ever seen Ian touch on any political topic other than those directly pertinent to whatever he has on the bench in front of him at that exact moment, and even then he’s been 100% factual without appearing to insert any type of opinion into it. It’s really rather astonishing how he manages to do that so consistently especially given the nature of, well, all of his peers.

All three of the main stars are literally youth pastors, and I’m sure in their private lives they’re indeed Very Christian but I can still respect how they aren’t in anyone’s faces about it in their videos in light of the above. I can handle the occasional offhanded reference to Big J if it means I get to see someone yeet a Frisbee into low Earth orbit, or whatever.

Some tools do have specific pressure requirements. You can try running an HVLP paint sprayer at the full 120 but you’re really not going to have a good time doing it. Low pressure is right there in the name, come to think of it.

If you’re using a nail gun with smaller nails you’ll probably need to wind down your pressure, too. If you’re using little brad nails and give them the full Monty you might find that they don’t remain in the workpiece but have rather affixed it to your bench instead.

And the fact that the blade appears to be made of something wrapped in aluminum foil. Styrofoam or plywood, if I were to take a guess.

Uh. How, though? The regulator is on the output end and has nothing whatsoever to do with how the motor and pistons put air into the tank. The compressor is going to pressurize its tank up to its pressure shutoff setpoint as fast as and indeed at the only speed it’s capable of running. If the pressure setpoint is even adjustable (it probably isn’t), diddling with that is only going to accomplish making your motor start and stop a bunch of times as you stairstep it up to whatever your maximum pressure is.

Big time commercial or industrial compressors rated for constant duty cycles may and sometimes do have variable speed motors, but I’ve never seen a consumer model with one.

It still is, but nobody cares anymore. At 16:9 1920x1080 is considered “Full High Definition,” and 3840x2160 (at minimum) is “Ultra High Definition,” at least in terms of their official marketing speak. The latter has mutated to include both 4K and 8K content somehow, apparently because the brainworms in the marketing department ran out of superlatives after “Ultra.”

I set the regulator on my compressor when I got it, and I haven’t had any occasion to touch it since. It’s set to 120 PSI, and it’s been somewhere in the neighborhood of twenty years.

Unless your compressor is either especially precise or especially crap I think you can safely ignore that whole song and dance. In the exceedingly rare instances I do need a lower pressure output I have a dinky little inline regulator I just attach to the bottom of whatever tool I’m using, which is inevitably a spray gun. The impact gun, air chisel, needle scaler, die grinders, drills, air chucks, strafer, and golf ball cannon get the whole enchilada all the time.

And the proof is that this is already how it is with every tax in America except income and property taxes. You’re taxed nickel and dime all the time and nobody notices. Sales tax is the most visible and it just is for most people, to the point they get confused when they go to one of the three (?) states that don’t have sales tax.

But you’re automatically taxed on gasoline, your phone and/or internet bill, glass and plastic bottles, sugary drinks, hotel rooms, cigarettes, and who knows what else because the process and indeed even the amount at which those goods and services are taxed are completely opaque to most people.

It doesn’t help either that the default web UI doesn’t actually clear off your notification bell even if you’re marked all replies as read until you force refresh the page. That’s kind of annoying.

Other interfaces like Alexandrite and I presume Photon do it a little better.

Or get sick of the avalanche of replies in their inbox, since you can’t turn off notifications for responses to a post or comment unlike on reddit. The only way to make it stop is to delete whatever it was.

Also I’m pretty sure by default if a user deletes their Lemmy account most clients also automatically delete all of their posts and comments. If a user gets fed up with us or decides the Fediverse is not for them, when they take their ball and go home that’s really what happens.

Negative. Insofar as I’m able to tell this was not caused by wildfire smoke, either. Our neck of the woods experienced that a couple of weeks ago (which is indeed where this red sun picture came from) but it seems to have blown away in the interim. This was with the moon very low in the sky, just a hand’s span or so over the river from my vantage point.

Surprisingly, if your display has enough contrast and the blacks are not crushed down that low the clouds are actually visible against the night sky in both photos, even if only just barely. It’s at times like this that I remember that most of my readership (i.e. sane and rational individuals) probably didn’t drop over $1000 on their primary monitor; This is visible on my main rig’s screen but not on my camera’s screen or even through its EVF.

It’s amazing how much worse my photos sometimes look on my monitor at work, which is also what was once an expensive high accuracy, high bit-per-pixel professional display… from 15 years ago.

One wonders what productive individuals spend their money on instead.
