FDE is for physical attackers, it would have nothing to do with torrenting unless you’re really intending on pissing off every single criminal legal authority and not just worried about civil suits from copyright holders.

If you want I can scientifically prove capitalism is the source of the majority of bad things currently happening in capitalist society; but lets be honest you just really don’t understand the word capitalism if you’re defending it.
I mean, does that mean Edge is a Google browser, too?
Yes.
All that to say: while the company that originally created Chromium is bad, the software isn’t.
Only to the extent that websites are built for chromium compatibility, due to its monopoly on the internet. It’s great software because it’s the most popular software so all other smaller providers that serve that software have to focus their resources into ensuring compatibility. Chromium(Blink) itself is pretty mid, and definitely equal to WebKit or Gecko, not better or significantly worse.
It’s really hard for the creator of Javascript to make money off of javascript, and it’s unlikely he has any financial interest in the Mozilla corporation anymore since they’re a nonprofit and thus don’t have share holders. However, he directly profits off of Brave.
archinstall comes by default on medium now; there’s also archfi and about a dozen other install scripts with varying levels of customization, interactivity, and ease of use. All of which are better options than wiki installation.
This is definitely a major reason. Windows 11 forces TPM 2, random hardware requirements that make no sense, and is objectively a downgrade from windows 10 (like every other windows version always is). Since Windows 10 is two years out from EoL and all major Linux distros have gotten so much better… might as well upgrade while you can still go back to 10 should you need to, before you have to be on Linux or throw out a bunch of otherwise fine computers.
Luckily there’s one mainstream and about a half dozen non-mainstream mobile OSes besides Apple, and almost anyone looking for the best in anything would not have Apple hardware in the first place.
This is a serious problem I think isn’t actually talked about enough. There is a ‘ring of trust’ on most social media now that in my opinion goes far too far; if you don’t have enough algorithmically determined ‘trust,’ you’ll be booted off without a way to appeal. Reddit shadowbans the vast majority of new accounts, but hasn’t been able to cut down on spambots; Facebook by its nature needs ridiculous amounts of personal information but even then doesn’t actually use it to assign more trust since bot-owners can supply generated information that’s equally as valid; really all social media, especially if you do anything at all to protect your privacy, assumes you’re a spambot first, then only lets you participate after you prove beyond a shadow of a doubt you might be a human. I understand we’re already half way into developing a dead internet, but there’s no reason we need to go full throttle into it by limiting actual humans from signing up past a certain point in a product’s lifespan.
We aren’t ‘powerless,’ but we really don’t want to do the solution. Just 300,000 blue-voting california residents in the right states would ensure Democrat control of the executive for at least the next 10 election cycles; around 2 million moving to the right states and districts would ensure at least a blue majority in congress as well. But I ain’t signing up to move. And the DNC isn’t offering relocation vouchers. And it’s probably not legal for them to offer to pay for relocation for political purposes.
Honestly carpentry and a bit of gardening; what I do in my free time now. I’d also probably still be doing computer work, since you know, technology isn’t incompatible with socialism or communism. It’s really a weird thought that we’d need to go full anarcho-primative to have human rights again; as if technology did not exist under any other economic system. I’ve never met one of you that can explain how the soviet union had computers if socialism means no iphone.
Sorry you forgot the reason you’re not currently locked in a factory with a gun pointed at your head for a chance to win MineCorp FunBux is because of red state socialists committing some pretty severe acts of violence against the state and US military during strikes. In revisionist history, nothing at all happened at Blair Mountain.
Ya’ll better watch out now y’hear? We don take kindly to that kind’a hate speech ‘round these parts. Equal weight beans and beef, you skimp out either and yain’t fixin’ chili; you might’ina even be inclined to leave for everyone’s sake.
You’re right, the US will fall long before it moves the slightest bit left wing. Which is probably a good thing all considered. The first iteration of an experiment is rarely successful, and the US laid the ground work for the EU which again is an improvement on the model of mostly independent states with baseline common values in need of common defense. But when you need worker’s rights again, and you will – we’ll be there again. When you need civil rights again, and you will – we’ll be there again. We’re really, really good at surviving right-wing and fascist regimes. Really good.
That’s a pretty iffy statement if you’ve ever talked to a veteran or active duty member. Sure, most might be loyal to the constitution, but the military votes republican for the most part, and that included in 2016 and 2020.
There are practically no American ‘communists,’ and more importantly there is statistically no American ‘left;’ that being said those of us that are left-wing never stopped being armed. Unlike American conservatives in either the democrat or republican party, we are staunchly against all gun control. As a reminder: “Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered, any attempts to disarm the people must be stopped, by force if necessary.” is a Karl Marx quote, not one of the American right-wing. When the US government started rounding up and killing communists in the 1940s and 50s, we started ensuring that we were armed, and that we absolutely were not ‘card-carrying communists,’ those of us one or two generations removed now remember the stories we were told, how it affected our family, and how important it will be to stay armed regardless of whatever ‘Liberals’ say is necessary for a free state. Liberalism has lead to fascism in every fascist regime, the ‘left’ does not recognize gun control.
That’s more secure than most setups, the VPN with killswitch will defeat any and all attacks you’re likely to encounter if you don’t open files on that same VM.
