I thought it had something to do with BTRFS subvolumes, but I wasn’t sure. I’m guessing the TUI doesn’t cover them since Void’s developers didn’t think TUI users would be interested in creating them, but I can’t imagine it’d be hard for them to add support for.

Curious, but have you tried the TUI? If so, what does it lack for your usecase?

Linux@programming.dev•EX-11: Prepping for Plasma’s Last X11-Supported Release – David Edmundson's Web LogEnglish
71·25 days agoThis is why I wish KDE still did LTS releases. Even though I use Wayland on my systems, I know it doesn’t have feature parity with X11, and that some users may still need X11 for different reasons. If 95% of users are using Wayland, that means there’s 5% that aren’t, and 5% is not an insignificant number. I know there’s other DEs that people can use if they need X11, but that’s missing the point.
I really don’t like this whole “march of progress, legacy can go to hell” mentality.

Linux@programming.dev•Flathub Now Rejects AI-Assisted Apps and SubmissionsEnglish
9·28 days agoGood. I hope this puts a dent in the number of new projects that use AI. I also hope Flathub implements a system to clearly flag existing submissions that have used it.

Linux@programming.dev•Flatpak’s Future May Leave Non-systemd Distros BehindEnglish
2·1 month agoWell this sucks. I use Flatpak all the time, so I guess this means I’m going to be even more dependent on systemd than I was before.
I don’t hate systemd as much as most of its detractors; in fact I like how easy it makes it to manage services, but with the age
verificationattestation controversy, and the performance improvements I witnessed switching my Pi-Hole box from Debian to Alpine, these things have caused me to question my use of systemd.

5·1 month agoThat might help to a small extent. I’d be somewhat worried about this feature discouraging people from engaging with smaller communities, but I imagine the active members count does this already.

Linux@programming.dev•Ubuntu 26.04 Will Be the Worst Ubuntu Release EverEnglish
2·2 months agoIf Mint ever releases a version that allows me to use KDE without installing any other DEs, or XFCE reaches the point where it has mature Wayland support, I may consider it. The Linux world is in dire need of a distro that’s basically “Kubuntu, but good”, IMO.
They should’ve done this as soon as the problem was found out. I’m not sure whether this is “better late than never”, or too late to really matter.
