The quality of the bricks is a bit lower than Lego, but therefore the price is a lot lower. They usually tell the source of the bricks on the site of each model, so you can do a websearch for further information.
The models are done with a lot of detailing and fun surprises inside. Compared to Lego, where it seems like they try to save money at every corner. With BlueBrixx I always feel like I’m getting a lot of extra on top.
Thanks!
I have a lot of BlueBrixx and really like them, but there are some (for the price reasonable) things to have in mind.
This is a special set, so there is probably only the digital handbook and don’t be suprised about the box, it will jut be an undecorated brown box. Also the handbook might not be as polished as legos (again especially for special sets (or modbrix), the pro sets have very good handbooks in my opinion)
Sounds good, thank you, I don’t really care about the box or the guide 😄
Experience with BlueBrixx in general or with this set?
BlueBrixx in general!
I’ve ordered from them a few times. First time was when they were about to lose their Star Trek license (turns out Lego grabbed that, meh) and got me a Defiant and some other Star Trek goodies.
The Defiant and most of the sets I got that time were branded under BlueBrixx Pro. I’d say that quality is almost on par with Lego, just one or two dodgy pieces on the 2500+ pieces of the Defiant. That’s not bad at all. Building instructions were fine, the books are good, just a bit hard to distinguish the darker colored pieces from each other.
Later ordered from them again, again on a black friday. I bought some larger sets and different brands. Even tried ModBrix brand which, I think, was acquired by BlueBrixx. ModBrix is fairly lame set designs (but it was cheap on sale so I tried it anyway) and one not fully moulded piece in there. The rest was Pantasy, Woma, DK, just nicely discounted and worth a try. Good sets overall there.
I do have one bad experience though, I also ordered a set separately for a friend’s bday and to let it deliver straight to him. It looks like they oversold and didn’t have that in stock anymore. I was kept on a line while I regularly emailed them where that package was. Finally after more than 2 months they declared it unsendable and I got my money back, but it was not too professional how slow they investigated. They just kept telling me to have patience. Oh yeah, you can post to them in English, but be prepared to use a translator if you don’t know German. ;)
Anyway, I’d probably buy from them again whenever they have some nice deals again. Quality of their own brand is perfectly fine. I’ve understood that their Blaustein series might use even better quality bricks, but alas I’m not too into medieval scenes. However their steampunk series look cool.
Very valuable feedback, thanks!
