How can I disable this profanity filter? It’s getting a bit ridiculous.
When I first joined here, I thought it just censored slurs so I was fine with it.
Now I’ve come to realize it censors way too much shit and it’s getting really annoying seeing “removed” all the time.
You use it to refer to things you can normally dominate that temporarily inconvenience you; that’s not the defense you want it to be. Even if that connection doesn’t exist in your own mind (and I believe you that it doesn’t) it normalizes that usage and contributed to systemic misogyny.
Additionally, I shouldn’t have to point out that a group using a slur that normally targets them isn’t evidence it’s not a slur; I bet you wouldn’t use the n-word even though the same metric applies.
your first point is a pretty good one, ill give this a deeper thought and see what conclusion i make on whether to keep using the word or not.
the second point is not as great, i dont ever see a black person calling anyone the hard r. i feel like the “friendly” n word is a different word entirely, even if it has the same origin. but that doesnt matter, ill focus on ur first one and will think about it further
