    Harrowing.

I went up on a nearby hill the other day, because the sunset was beautiful and the cloud cover was majestic, I wanted to view it from a better vantage point.

When I got up, I realised that a not insignificant part of the hill had burned. It was a rather depressing view.

      I feel you.

I had a wildfire burn thru the property/area I live and work on not long ago. I had to spend the rest of the summer, fall, and a good portion of the winter just staring at scorched earth - morning, noon, and night.

It definitely has a profound effect on you

That sounds really unpleasant. I had no idea there’d been a fire (and not even a particularly large one at that) until I climbed the hill, so it’s not something I’ll have to stare at for a longer period of time, but it was unpleasant when we were up there. I used to go there rather often because it offers a really nice view of the town.

The ground was also oddly sticky.

That looks like such nice spot to chill. Teenage-Me would have smoked most of my joints up there lol.

I hope your nice vantage point recovers soon!
