What places have you found in this region that are interesting (or just have a nice view) but don’t have a formed or fully marked track leading to them?

A few that I have been too and liked follow:

  • Tinderry Peak - nice walk with some boulder scrambling as you approach the top of the mountain, ends atop a large boulder with a good 360 degree view.

  • Pierces Creek Waterfall - a good one to get to before El Nino sets in and dries out the creek again, it comes down a decent height and looks rather picturesque.

  • Blue Gum Hill - if you like Booroomba Rocks you’ll like this one because it’s the next hill north from there, also looks out towards Canberra from a rocky face, and is a little taller so gives what I think is a better view.

  • Billy Billy Rocks - a shorter walk (took me 4 and a bit hours return) with some quite large boulders to explore and a good view overlooking Tidbinbilla once you find the route up to the top of the topmost boulder. This one did have tape flags and cairns marking at least some of the most obvious route but they were hard enough to spot in the regrowth that I ended up not bothering and just made my own way.

I’d be interested to hear of other good less travelled places, particularly as it’s been a few months since I did any bushwalking and should really get around to doing some.
