Hello. I would like to become the moderator of !aita@lemmy.world.

AITA, short for Am I The Asshole, is a clone of Reddit’s r/AmITheAsshole. It is a community for people seeking objective view on their personal conflicts. There have been a few attempts at recreating the subreddit on Lemmy. The one I’m requesting has been so far the most successful. However, its current moderator, @Whatever@lemmy.world, seems to be permanently offline and not taking active care of it.

I’m not an experienced mod, I hope to gain some experience here. I see the community as a way for people to understand others around them and improve themselves. It is a special kind of place, one which I believe isn’t exactly meant to be “friendly”, instead prioritizing honesty and helpfulness. That being said, I intend to keep it clean from uncalled insults, though some things which would be seen as hostile elsewhere might not be out place here (e.g. calling posters “assholes”).

Truth be told, I believe the community isn’t currently in bad need of moderation, which isn’t to say it wouldn’t be helpful now or necessary in future. For now, I would add a sidebar description (so far I’ve created a post explaining the specifics to people who might not be familiar with the community from Reddit).

Note: I’m recently using this account, though most of my past activity is on my other one, @Machefi@lemmy.world. On both of these I linked the other.
