I never used twitter, but doesn’t this “block” feature block other people from seeing your tweets? So the “mute” feature that is maintained is what we see as “block” in other services like lemmy, right? As in you block who u don’t want to see.
And they also can’t send you message. Block is important for every minorities groups, because there’s always far-right supporters who want to harass them
I used to be Twitter, but dropped it years ago. Block allowed you to prevent people from commenting on your tweets as well as prevented you from seeing them or them seeing your tweets. They could obviously logout and view your tweets anonymously, but the most important benefit was if you have a nasty creep/stalker/asshole posting vile comments on your tweets, if you block them, they can’t do that any more. And believe me, even 8 years ago when I was still on Twitter (let alone now in this political environment) trolls were rampant.
I’m confused by the Memmy app…I can’t tell if you are commenting on my comment or something else. And the comments won’t load in the app either so I can’t even see my own comment as a reference.
However, if it wasn’t clear, I was on Twitter between 10 years - 8 years ago. I quit Twitter long before Elon was involved in any way. So if your comment was directed at me, it doesn’t make sense. Good luck storming the castle!
I haven’t heard of that one. The Memmy app is just terrible so far…every single time that I come to a thread, it says “Comments Loading” spin, spin, spin, spin… and they never show up. I’m only able to see this because I came to the browser version. I’ll search for it, thanks.
Oh so if u mute, they can still comment on your tweets but u won’t see? It’s functionally the same as lemmy right? (U block someone, they can comment on your posts and u don’t see).
So it becomes more problematic because twitter is more personal?

Twitter is practically designed to encourage trolling.
On the plus side, I can finally slide back into Lauren Boeberts DMs when I’ve been drinking.

Lol, @AGreaterMonster, formerly known as Twitter.

I just searched, and it’s only for Android so I can’t try it.

Imagine you “mute” someone and then that person starts doxing you on your tweets and you can’t even report it.
