I currently live in one of the few illegal states in the US. There is a “dispensary” a block away from my house where you can buy something that looks, smells, and makes you feel the same way regular weed does.

I’m also currently contracted at a company that hires DOT employees, so they implement random drug testing for everyone. I work a very technical desk job, and an occasional bowl was the best way to rest my brain after work.

So, if I walk up the street and purchase a bag of hemp and smoke it, I could lose my job.

OR I can walk a bit further and get black out drunk at a bar, and call out of work the next day (something I have done before).

What’s fucked is the tests also cover alcohol, but being hung over isn’t against the rules, even if I’m far more impaired than if I smoked a bowl a week ago.

Not sure why I posted this, can probably remove it. Just feel the need to vent I suppose.

I have spent way too much time getting my hopes up for things to change here. Appreciate the company. May the day come for us both sooner than we think. 🍃

Same, except I’m basically dependent on federal action and hoping the state doesn’t decide to say “nah” and re-criminalize it at the state level (or some other obstruction).

We don’t have citizen-initiated ballot initiatives here, so only the state legislature can introduce any kind of legalization bills. Given the climate, that ain’t happening. I’m surprised we even got medical, TBH, but I don’t qualify.

      But, maybe some day!
