I have moved away from Google Contacts and Google Calendar and am now using Synology Calendar/Contacts. I’ve left Google Drive for Synology Drive and I’ve left Google Photos for Synology Photos. Everything is self hosted and self maintained.

0485@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•how do you workout when you don't have much time?1·4 months agoI typically go for a run. The good thing is that you can control the intensity by increasing/decreasing your speed.
Only have 15 minutes? Run relativity quick and you more than likely be in heart rate zone 4.

0485@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there any reason to use the "new" sorting option on Lemmy, except to filter unwanted content?5·6 months agoI only sort by new for my subscribed feeds. I feel it works really well there. I rarely go so all or anything like that. Too much unwanted stuff for me personally.

0485@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•It's true that when people die, they get a new life as a new person, in terms of the person's vision (what we see from our eyes)?103·6 months agoSo why does overpopulation/underpopulation exist?
If you Instantly respawn as you die would that not mean there’s a finite amount of people on the planet?
Otherwise new people can’t exist without someone else dying.
With your logic the ratio is 1:1.
In reality the ratio is higher or lower which determines over/underpopulation.
That’s how I see it.

0485@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is your favourite open source software that you discovered in the past year, that you can no longer live without?162·7 months agoGotta be my Synology NAS. Although the hardware isn’t free. The software is open source.
I moved always from every cloud storage provider to my own private cloud instead! Could not be happier!
My wife loves it too!
Edit: Sorry! Looks like some parts of the Nas is open. Not DSM itself.

I agree. I am subscriber of theirs. They provide immense value, for free.

0485@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•if you don't use facebook, what social media do you use to stay in contact with family?23·1 year agoI don’t use any social media. I give my phone number to family members. They can call/text if they want to reach me.
We already have this in Sweden. 10km in Sweden is 1 mil (Swedish mile).
When we sell/buy used cars and other types of vehicles we always count the mileage in Swedish miles.
Kilometers work but is just absurd when you start talking about 100k+ kms.
