  • They conveniently underlined all the bullshit.

every claim is nonsense or irrelevant.

    For example:

Highest rate of economic growth (reflecting even more of the wealth being distributed among the Uber wealthy)

Lowest inflation (not counting housing, healthcare, energy or food)

Strongest wage growth (maybe in nominal terms if you ignore the actual increase in the cost of essential goods and services putting people behind where they were pre-pandemic)

Biggest wage gain among lowest paid workers (who still make less than they did before 2019 and somehow overlooking that almost all the gains in the economy since 2019 went to a few specific billionaires)

Lowest unemployment in x years ( they just keep redefining unemployment so that instead of it meaning ‘people who can’t find enough gainful employment to pay essential bills’, we limit it to people that have no job right now but did in the last six months and have made x number of applications while not collecting any income. It’s a damn joke)

They say “accounting for inflation” but then you have to remember their definition of inflation does not count housing, healthcare, energy or food so it’s nonsense anyway.

The wealth gap is wider now than 2018. I don’t even know where this claim that people are better off or the wealth gap is shrinking comes from… oh they got a 6% raise and inflation in sensible terms (not even counting housing and healthcare but including energy and food) is close to 9%.

And the black unemployment rate much like the unemployment rate itself is a cooked number that ignores most of the people that are black and unemployed/underemployed. It just doesn’t give a shit if you can eat, have a place to live or can afford to go to the doctor, it just cares if you have a job right now or if you recently did and are still looking.

I am on my phone so I haven’t had a chance to look up the disability unemployment claim, but as someone that lives with and supports people with disabilities, this might actually be real. Remote work is a real social revolution and it is making lives better.

My point is, as long as articles like this used continue to use cooked books to justify rose tinted viewings they will continue to think Americans are just ungrateful and ignorant of how great things are.

Dishonest stuff like this undermines the credibility of revenue driven media and leads to blurring the lines between a community getting high on hopium and Trump’s firehose of bullshit.

  • Hamas is Israel’s baby. Benjamin Netanyahu made it what it is today intentionally and specifically to undermine the legitimacy of palestine’s right to its own self-determination.

October 7th was an inevitable response to the intentionally murderous apartheid prison state Israel has built to house the native population. The ethnic cleansing didn’t start on October 7th, And it was the government of Israel that allowed it to happen both directly through funding Hamas and indirectly through ignoring all of the warnings leading up to that.

Israel is holding lots of hostages and murdering lots of children. They’ve also murdered lots of The Israeli hostages taken by Hamas when they’re being released.

Israel let October 7th happen, they sacrificed their own civilians in a ghoulish attempt to create a pretext to finish the extermination of the Palestinian people whose land they have taken.

No one’s down playing how bad Hamas is, maybe Benjamin Netanyahu shouldn’t have encouraged funding them all these years.

I’m saying Israel is at least as bad because they have the same exact goal (ethnically cleansing a population they don’t like from a country they think they own) but the only difference is Israel has lots of weapons and gets to do whatever it wants without even having to pay for its own bills or face any kind of international scrutiny.

In a just world, Israel sends the genocidal leadership of their own government to the Hague, ends the illegal settlements, ends the apartheid state, and starts paying reparations to the Palestinians they have been abusing for over 70 years.

Anything short of that and Israel is choosing violence, war, and genocide.

    The problem is Israel.

Israel is making a really good case right now for why they might not be mature enough to manage their own state.

  • Israel is bad. It’s not that complicated. Hamas is also bad.

Hamas is a less effective evil than Israel is. That’s just how it is. No one is suggesting we send weapons to Hamas, we should just stop sending any form of aid at all to Israel unless they immediately stopped the genocide campaign, surrender their murderous leadership to the Hague, and immediately stop the illegal settlements.

That would be a good first step for Israel to show the whole world that it actually isn’t evil, and just was led by an evil person.

How about in exchange for Israel stopping this new Holocaust we continue to agree not to aid, enable, or tolerate anybody who aids Hamas? We can’t do it alone though We need Israel to stop propping up Hamas.

Also let’s just never give them any more money ever again. Obviously if they have free college and universal health care they can pay their own fucking bills.

  • If you maintain public goods for the good of the public you have a lot less crime. It’s precisely because there is such extreme wealth that is not paying to maintain the public goods that we have the crime.

The people destroying the stuff are doing that because they have been robbed of a place in society and their futures have been foreclosed to them.

Building hostile anti-human infrastructure, housing that costs 60 hours a week to live in, and unaffordable food that the government subsidizes to make MORE expensive are all not so subtle ways to tell these people that society does not value them.

  • It depends on what kind of RAM you’re getting.

You could get Dell R720 with two processors and 128 gigs of RAM for $500 right now on eBay, but it’s going to be several generations old.

I’m not saying that the model is taking up astronomical amounts of space, but it doesn’t have to store movies or even high resolution images. It is also not being expected to know every reference, just the most popular ones.

I have 120tb storage server in the basement. So the footprint of this learning model is not particularly massive by comparison, but It does contain this specific whole joker image. It’s not something that could have been generated without the original to draw from.

In order to build a bigger model they would need not necessarily just more storage but actually a new way of having more and faster RAM connected to lower latency storage. LLMs are the kinds of software that become hard to subdivide to be distributed across purpose-built arrays of hardware.
