  • If we can fight the owners to keep our shitty back breaking jobs and win, we should have fought the owners to rebuild our economy for automation profits to largely benefit the people from the bottom up.

If we the peasant masses even can win against the tiny owner class oligarchs, lets fight for the right thing. And if we can’t win, well then it’s all masturbation anyway and they’ll do what they want.

It’s irrational to fight for “we demand to continue to break our backs making your shit instead of robots so we can continue to subsist on menial laborer wages with broken backs!” in any event. That’s some coal miner excuse for logic.

  • Automation isn’t the enemy.

As ever, the owner class that hoards and wages economic war on you though automation for their exclusive benefit at their society’s expense are your enemy, whether you would fight them or not.

Arguing that we should “save” back breaking, repetitive unnatural movement, manual labor jobs that break human bodies by the time they’re 40 is the WRONG hill to die on. Fight for the citizenry to reap the benefits of automation through taxation, not to keep shitty jobs robots can do faster and better. Fight to change the economy so that everyone doesn’t need meaningless jobs machines can do better so we can have actual time to live our lives.

Taxing the fuck out of automation would let everyone win, because a heavily taxed robot is still far cheaper for the company than a human or possibly several humans for that one robot would be, so automation is here either way. We can riot to change our economy to benefit from this technology as we should, or we can be steamrolled yet again by the dictates of the affluent who will demand and get all the benefits and none of the responsibility if not confronted and countered on revolutionary terms.

Please pick the former. There’s no dignity or meaning to be had shuffling boxes around in an Amazon warehouse. Begging the owners to let us try to continue to compete with literal purpose built repetitive labor machines is not the way.

  • Probably, in the same way Steamboat Mickey is.

Just part of the whole valuing property, in this case intellectual, over actual labor and people that our species loves so fucking much.

Imagine if IP from drugs to technology to fiction had a 5-10 year max window before other people could work with and expand on it. It would be a better world for most.

Oh you only get to make exclusive income on that thing you came up with for SEVERAL YEARS OF YOUR LIFE before you need to contribute in other ways to keep making money, boo fucking hoo. Where’s the sympathy for people working 2 jobs, burning their life up to meet basic needs, who don’t get several years of passive income on an idea that popped into their head 4 years ago.

  • He knows what Republican voters want: cruelty.

Republican voters haven’t given shit 1 about governance since I’ve been alive. They don’t believe in society, and believe everything they have was in no way facilitated by the society they live in or the government that maintains it. Remember how psycho the voters went when Obama simply pointed out that entrepreneurs rely on national infrastructure and wouldn’t have made their business empires what they were in a vacuum without said infrastructure?

Donald Trump became president on the same philosophy of cruelty plans first and only. The closest Republicans get to running on a policy position is promising to “drown the government in a bathtub.” Psychotic enough for you?

    Republican derps gotta herp.

  • It’s not democracy, but pay for play, hush money, and an overall culture of bribery is more American than apple pie ever was.

The prominence of Trump is just a symptom of America’s long running greed disease of putting capital miles above people.

If we had altered our economy and culture not to worship at the alter of sociopathic avarice and reckless growth/metastasis, Donald Trump would have gone to jail before he was a game show host, let alone POTUS.

I’m voting for Biden to keep my conscience clean but without hope, because the sad truth is, Donald Trump absolutely represents what America is in all it’s grotesque, sociopathic, schadenfreude reveling, toxic hyper-individualistic, inhuman glory.

He’s like a cartoon embodiment of who we actually are as a society in practice, and why I can’t stand this place, a nepo-wealth bully obsessed with wealth hoarding that’s got his, knows that means he makes the rules, and fuck you 🇺🇸

  • Entire industries cannibalizing one another to eliminate competition and their industry’s ability and desire to make the products/services they existed for in the first place. TimeWarnerHBODiscoveryblahblah shelving projects for tax cheats, making lazy appeals to nostalgia for what the companies they destroyed once made, and cheap reality garbage instead of actual media comes to mind, but it’s terminal capitalism, it’s happening in every sector.

Then they lay off their workers cutting their workforce to the bone by activist shareholder demand, eliminating potential consumers of the economy.

Now they want to use AI to cut the bone.

The economy no longer has any interest in the human beings it was created as a lowly tool to serve. We’re being cut out entirely, except the small class of private owners, of course.

AI could and should be used to free mankind from tedious labor, that’s why such innovation should have come from well funded PUBLIC research our economy should have been oriented to feed for PUBLIC benefit.

Instead, like every other technology, it will be used as yet another cudgel against society. This civilization is dogshit.

  • The problem is, the women who have been in his corner are proudly against their own interests.

They seem to derive identity from being against their own gender’s acquisition of rights and status.

They’re akin to the sizable women’s anti suffrage movement that came with the suffrage movement, patronizingly acting like they know better than to give people like themselves equal status to men.

Hopefully this pushes away the no-low information independent women, but the only way for Trump to lose Republican votes he currently has would be to suddenly find civility, tact, and demonstrate basic respect towards his opponent, which would never happen.

  • you seem to be assuming that children have the same logical reasoning faculties that adults do. this is not the case.

Critical thinking and reasoning must be taught, and in the US largely doesn’t until the college level unfortunately. Many adults, many parents have no logical reasoning faculties and never will. Some are very proud of this, declaring the whims and opinions that pop into their heads “common sense.” I refer you to my fellow Americans who see salvation in a slumlord game show host nepo baby. There’s a reason humanity spent 180+ thousand years wandering in the dirt before stumbling upon a less brutal way to live 10-20 thousand years ago.

Again, some like myself may seek out such information if they are starved of it at home, if they have access. If anything, getting multiple conflicting opinions tends to make a new mind seek out ways to parse the true from the false, and that chance is better than no chance at all.
