Encephalotrocity@biglemmowski.winto Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft getting nervous about Europe's tech independenceEnglish36·22 days agoTechies in Europe – who obviously have a vested interest in unsettling Microsoft stronghold on the market as AWS, Microsoft, and Google have upwards of a 70 percent share of the public cloud sector in the region – previously highlighted the potential dangers of US legislation.
I’ve mentioned this before as a criticism for Canadian boycotts of the US. Every large Canadian website, even Government and News use US cloud services. Every. One.
Frank Karlitschek, CEO of Nextcloud, told us in March, “The Cloud Act grants US authorities access to cloud data hosted by US companies. It does not matter if that data is located in the US, Europe, or anywhere else.”
How was this allowed to happen? The minute that law was passed all sites that use them should have discontinued their contracts. JFC.

I don’t use HA so this is confusing me. If the software works for your home setup, why update at all ever? What do you as a user get other than the opportunity to see new ads on the thermostat screen or whatever?

It would clearly signal to the world (and to America’s children) that America is a declining power.”
Yeah, tht’s been clear since Donald Doofus got voted in the first time. It’s time that the signals get registered by America.

Encephalotrocity@biglemmowski.winto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What is anti-propaganda?English4·2 months agoPropaganda isn’t necessarily lies. It is just biased towards the author’s agenda with the goal to persuade a target demographic. For example: an article (or pamphlets being air dropped over their lines) blasting Russia for summarily executing their own troops for retreating would both be factual and propaganda.
That said, I agree with your sentiment. Facts counter the ‘undesirable propaganda’.

Encephalotrocity@biglemmowski.winto World News@beehaw.org•Hamas ‘quietly drops’ thousands of deaths from casualty figuresEnglish4·2 months agoIf you were really curious you might have bothered to read the actual article. You would then know that the HJS is only one commenter in a list that also includes the Telegraph, and Honest Reporting within it. All of which are rated as right-leaning biased, but at least HonestReporting gets a “mostly-factual” from MBFC. The published data being criticized is from Hamas (and always has been).
The bias is good to be aware of, but the factuality is critical. Considering a left-biased Euronews published the same report I suspect there is some truth to the core facts being discussed.
