Fediverse@lemmy.world•The Fediverse and Content Creation: MonetizationEnglish
591·3 days agosuper necessary if we expect anyone (outside of hobbyists) to even think of putting their content on the fediverse first or at the same time as other platforms
Quickly and effortlessly get some music playing that can act as a backdrop for your real activity such as working, driving, cooking, hosting friends, etc. Keep it rolling indefinitely. The particular songs don’t matter much. They are fungible as long as the general mood stays consistent.
can’t relate
i find new awesome music all the time, i only found i loved hardstyle 8 years ago, techno 5 years ago, vaporwave like a year ago
This is a fantastic service if you’re not that interested in music and are just looking for the aural version of mediocre Ikea artwork to cover the bare walls of your day
if you want to make it harder for yourself to discover new music then cool, but don’t imply that because you used spotify as a sort of cafe jazz background radio that we all use it like this

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are there any services or vendors of music that allow for local backup?
2·5 days agoim not sure why you say streaming is out due to bad coverage areas? on spotify throw your music into a playlist then select download and then even if you’re offline it still plays

28·6 days agoDisagreeing, the comic is stupid in its comparison of voluntarily wearing headphones and living under an authoritarian government, one is very easy to change (literally just buy an alternative), the other quite difficult.
isn’t the first panel (of the original comic) the very definition of, “act on your principles when you have ample ability to do so”?
Why would it be? They bought the headphones knowing full well the company behind them
If consumers wanted to they could severely punish Apple and go with a company that makes smartphones in the west or not in chinese sweat shops, there are companies like https://www.fairphone.com/ and https://e.foundation/e-os/ and they’re ok, but the demand just isn’t there, hence the memes

The people have voted with their wallets and are ok with billionaires and slaves making iphones

I don’t think it was money that changed youtube, i think it was the algo, it now promotes viral content that for some reason has a persons face in the thumbnail with an exaggerated face :O
