Starting with someone’s dotfiles is a much better way to start with these minimalist window managers. You can see what they did and only tweak the the things you want to work different. Still not as easy as a DE’s unified settings, but if you like that fine grained control it can be worthwhile. My setup is quite basic, but having everything bound to the keys I want lets me do what I want quickly.

More generally, just use Libredirect and avoid using a ton of important but shitty websites. Breezewiki in particular is fantastic, so much faster than Fandom and it’ll redirect you to a game’s actual official wiki since Fandom SEO’s itself to the top even when it has shitty misinformation and isn’t maintained.

This battery car starter / tire infator / phone charger. I have used it with some frequency, but more often I can just roll up and fix someone’s car problem super quick. I even get out of work with it a lot when a customer needs someone to jump their car or fix a flat (also keep a tire patch kit obv).

My main reason for buying a 6 refurbished was GrapheneOS. Beyond that, it’s a phone without an SD card slot or an easily replacee battery. When this phone gets an issue I can’t fix, I’ll probably re-evaluate what to get - hopefully still a GrapheneOS phone but more repaiarable and expandable.

it uses barely anything. youtube-tui is a TUI not CLI, you can click on shit and it’ll run on hardware that for some reason cannot handle freetube of all things. you will have to set up mpv or something for most leaner alternatives to get video running on hardware that modest.

There is Rock Pi and other SoC’s that have that. That H3/H3+ looks like a good option for a low power server for self hosting.
It’s the lack of hardware AV1 that concerns me, as well as droppong h.264. Raw CPU means it’ll still handle the latter, but since streaming will be moving to AV1 it’s kind of questionable whether this will be a reasonable media center.

The issue is that any philantropy a billionaire does comes from money “earned” through exploitation and is never enough to un-make them a billionaire. Even if they did, it’s still a single person taking the resources of millions of people and controlling it themselves to put into their pet projects, in a completely undemocratic manner - so Gates gets to benefit from the looting of Africa and then turn arounf and tell Africans how he will be allocating that stolen loot. Oh, and that man controlling so much policy in various African nations thinks Africa is overpopulated, an extremely racist eugenicist myth.
The good and bad are not separste things you can judge in isolation, any “good” a billionaire does is only possible by causing disproportionate harm. It is not as though these billionaires are personally doing much of anything, they are simply seizing resources from the public to inefficiently address problems that the public could have managed themselves if they were permitted to control their own lives, if they aren’t just doing what Gates does of using donations as money laundering.
I have some deeply tech unsavvy people in my life who will fuck up their phone trying to “uninstall Google” - and thus disable all their keyboards - that would probably benefit from a “just works” degoogled phone. I love GrapheneOS, but it assumes the end user is the sort of dork that is capable of installing it in the first place - people who struggle with tech deserve privacy too.
It aleady has been. Anything, anything publicly posted and available will be harvested by, at a minimum, Google spiders. The only privacy benefits of any site can only be promises that they won’t share the information that you don’t publicly list.
