There are legitimate versions of windows that are hard to get as a non enterprise consumer. Such as some of the IOT versions that have much longer security support.

My problem with these lists is they never provide any sort of evidence as to why these suggestions should be trusted. No discernable criteria that a suggestion in a category has to meet, no evidence the site fact checks its suggestions.
The bar for torrenting is super low. If all you want to do is avoid DMCA notices pretty much any VPN will do as long as you bind it to your torrent client.
In terms of Windscribe they have become a much more respectable VPN if you also want some privacy protections and DNS protections but there are better options.
They used to be a bottom dweller VPN selling off lifetime memberships for $30 in the mid 2000s but have really become a strong privacy advocate over the last few years.
Problem for me is a lot of news and journalists are still only on Twitter.

Even they would tell you that using sandboxed google play and the g cam app is a better experience if your looking for more then just snapping a photo on your phone though. As obnoxious as they can be on mastodon they are pretty honest with the limitations of their apps due to it not being as high of a priority.
Something can be shady and not a honeypot. It’s much more common. Its like people forgot this and now anytime anyone feels something is sus this type of post appears.
I was in middle school and I saw my friend had all the episodes of ATHF (aqua teen hunger force) and I wanted to be able to get free episodes of stuff. Silly but true.
You can therefore blame the mooninites for my piracy.
I use an optiplex for torrenting, Plex media server, and real debrid. The VPN is always on so I wouldn’t be concerned to use it as my daily driver but it’s a bit old to handle other tasks in use my daily driver for.
This. There really is no point in installing something like tinywall, when there is a built in firewall that has more functionality (granted its much less user friendly).
Meanwhile ryujinx be like “nothing to see here”
I typically use a desktop but I’ve worked office jobs all my life, so I have a bunch of spare “retired” thinkpads I use if I need a laptop.
If I was going to buy a new laptop Framework really appeals to me although the continuing issue of slow firmware updates might keep me away.
Probably would just go with a secure core PC instead, especially if I was going to keep personal data on it.
Sucks to see something destroy a mans spirit. Not only did it change his outlook on creating open source but it soured his view on open source in general. Reads a bit overly salty but, understandable as it sounds like he went through a lot.
Or just generate a random series of 5 words (through bitwarden) separated by the character of your choice and have a much better password that’s relatively easy to memorize.
Bitwarden has an import tool. You should be able to convert your spreadsheet into the format they like and import relatively easily.
For backups, you can create encrypted backups through bitwarden. So it shouldn’t matter if synching itself is a secure process as what your syncing is already encrypted.
The irony in not being able to pirate a game from the publishers of “Rise of Piracy”
My bad i assumed people on this sub had the amateur knowledge required to protect themselves and/or avoid the 5 trackers on the site.
Your right though, if clicking a link to theverge is such a massive risk for you, then not reading articles is probably least of your concerns.
Folks, Just read the extra 55 words in the article. Most of you wont spend a dime on journalism of any kind, at least fully read the articles your interested in.
I generally would recommend staying away from third party modified versions of Windows. This would be especially true for OP as you seem to be a relatively inexperienced user.
Usually the security risk isnt worth whatever they offer and most of the time any features they offer could usually be accomplished within standard Windows.
Do this all the time with video games. Pirate to try before I buy. If I really like the game I buy it in the hopes it creates an incentive to make more games like the ones I like.
