  • Regulations will be broken, and the people who break them will only be in more peril. There are many cases of parents killing their firstborn in China, if the child was female because they were only allowed one child and men are deemed more important.

The factors you list (low economic status, mental instability, illness) are not hard factors. They can be addressed and I feel the state should focus on that by supporting parents financially, make sure there is affordable housing, medication and food, boost especially women’s financial independence, reduce wait times for health specialists such as psychologist.

  • I was wandering through a local forest during the summer. It was a beautiful day and being in the shade was real nice. I didn’t know the route super well, so after a long hike I stop at a crossroad and wonder how to get back to the start. I rest for a bit and winder if I could take the overgrown path leading straight back to where I came from. The sun is also getting low, so I better hurry. I don’t want to be in the woods at evening/night. I drink up and decide to get on it. The moment I wanted to set that thought in motion, I hear howling barks and growls above me. I look up the hills but can’t see anything. Fuck the overgrown path, fuck getting adveterous and I hurry back the path I came from.

  • Anne Frank’s diary. There is the historic relevance, but apart from that it is the inner world of a teen girl. I read it as a teen as well, and I remember it greatly resonated with me. She was of course in a unique and threatening situation, bit she also was just a teen, struggeling with typical teen issues. You know how it ends, but over the book you learn so much about her, her family and how they are trying to make tge mkst of it. You start rooting for her. And despite you knowing how it ends I felt quite empty when it did.

Also, a well written sex ed book. I have no specific one in mind, but a medicly accurate book explaining the female and male hormone cycles, menstruation, pregnancy (control including abortion) and menopause! And yeah, goes into how to actually have sex, that it’s important to talk about boundaries etc.

  • Depends on the use case.

    • AI that parses manuals, documentation and dumbs it down for me? Yes please.
    • AI that generates images? Eh, kinda undecided. I have seen really impressive AI videos, which I couldn’t tell from real videography.
    • AI as a personal assistant? No, too much energy wasted on minor issues that could have been solved more efficiently. E.g: I have X at home, what could I make for dinner?
    • AI (not LLMs) in medical/scientific fields. Very intruiging. Yes. good shit.
    • AI in childrens toys. Eww. Burn it! Fecken burn it!!!

I think it can be a great tool, but it is overvalued atm, and there are AI images anywhere which is really frustrating. When I go to pinterest, I want to see human input. When I check my LinkedIn everyone and their cat is using AI graphics - I get it, it’s quick and easy, but such a waste of energy.

If we want to keep using AI, we need to reduce the quantity in which we use it and it’s resource consumption.

  • If I understand correctly you receive healthcare through your mother who’s healthcare is covered by her employer, and they don’t cover psychiatry, right? Or would you be forced to switch your treating psychiatrist?

Regardless; if there are financial issues, talk it through with your mother. IIrc she was making calls, trying to get you professional help. It seems to be important to her that you get proper support. And she too will be aware of the issues with healthcare and she is still trying to help you. Be honest with your psychiatrist. You can discuss any worries you have about finances/healthcare with them. They’ll usually know some information that could help you.

Please be honest with them. I know it can be scary, but you will have a better outcome.
