I would assume that neither seller or buyer specified gender for the trade. I also don’t think that having another gender than expected counts as violation of terms.

All people have a right to exist and what they do with their time and their energy is their decision.

Science@mander.xyz•China completes most powerful hypergravity centrifuge
7·23 days agoFor some reason the ‘article’ mentions compressing space and time multiple times. Does it really though? Maybe I’m misunderstanding, but I can’t imagine large centrifugal forces inducing any relativistic effects.

science@lemmy.world•What should countries do with their nuclear waste?English
1·24 days agoWell, as I said: not ALL pricing is entirely made up. In particular, in a production chain it makes sense that the price increases with further processing. Why would I sell a gear for less than I paid for the metal I made it from? Why would a bicycle manufacturer sell the bike for less than they paid for the sum of its parts? You can reduce the profit to nothingness, but you still need to assure a living wage for all the people involved (as long as you have morals). That means that there at least is some rules that need to be followed in pricing. And complicated things tend to be expensive. A computer chip must always be more expensive than a gram of sand and that’s not arbitrary.
There are other incentives for why people labor than just getting paid.
I’m pretty sure that many unpleasant jobs like mining do require monetary recompensation if the task is not pleasant by itself. I can’t imagine how else one would incentivize this kind of labor.

61·26 days agoNot all things are expensive on a whim. Some things just use massive amounts of material, energy and work hours to be produced. I cannot just stop paying miners their already too low wages. I also cannot take energy for free. It is not like we have all minerals and energy in abundance and have automated the crap out of every production chain.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•I was recently gifted a Steam Deck for Christmas! If you only had a budget of, let's say 50 bucks, what would you get?
2·29 days agoI loved playing the Dyson Sphere Program, but the controls without mouse and keyboard felt impossible to me, so I stopped playing it altogether since gaming mostly on the Stema Deck. Have you got any tips for making the controls work better?
How do you feel about Einhundertzweiunddreißigtausendvierhundertfünfundsechzig?
Huh, and I thought I needed a Microsoft account, but this way I could maybe even use for the computers at work. Thanks!

Linux@lemmy.ml•Recommended mini linux device for streaming to TV
1·5 months agoI tried this with zeroPi and jellyfin, bit the Pi seemed constantly overwhelmed with displaying videos, so I got about a frame every 2 seconds (might have been a pi3b). Have you got any clue what the issue might be? It depended a lot on the particular file I wanted to play as well though, but I wasn’t able to find a pattern. Of two matroska/mp4 files one worked well, the other stuttered as hell.

13·1 year agoI’m looking forward to LLMs copying the gibberish german communities like to use. It is very common there to translate things word for word without any regard for correct german grammar or understandibility.

Is it the same with stellarators?
