…you don’t think the US auto industry is heavily subsidized? Like… really?

The Chinese government is intentionally subsidizing, and incentivizing their car companies to over produce and under price vehicles
Wow that doesn’t sound like anyone else I know. Nope. No other country does that. I’m so glad that our inferior products are being propped up so well. Yay America.

I should really set up something to poll that bet for movement so I can get in on it
For the record: I’m not interested in reading comments stating your views on AI, because it will serve no purpose for the question that is asked here. I’ll just simply block and move on. If I wanted your views, I’d ask for it but that’s not what I’m asking for. Downvote angrily all you want because ‘AI’ is even mentioned, it doesn’t matter. I don’t care about how Anti-AI you are for signaling virtue on.
Fun-fact: starting your post as an exhausting asshole doesn’t get you the responses you want!

It was Quake for us 😅 I’m not even that old, it’s just the only game that was small enough to store on the shared network without being discovered

Seriously, how are there still so many people on meta? What percentage are bots is the real question 🤷♂️

They only spy on you most of the time!
lol, just kidding, that part doesn’t turn off

Awww, boo hoo, people don’t like my billionaires overlords 😭😭😭 so sad, how will they ever sleep at night

There are plenty of companies run by single (or even double!)-digit millionaires that are enriched by their wealth without effectively stealing the labor of most of their employees 🤷♂️ but, by all means, feel free to just give up and keep licking that boot.
Why do you think we need billionaires? What do they accomplish for the good of the country or the people in it that couldn’t be accomplished at half or 1/10 or 1/1000th the cost?
How does Bezos putting 99% of his competitors out of business, reducing competition through market capture, help you? How does Zuck or Pichai selling your browsing habits, which you see no proceeds from, improve your life? What do these billions sitting in oligarchs’ bank accounts do for you that they wouldn’t be able to as public funds, fixing your roads or building new rails?

How are the bodies of all of the people that build her stages doing? How about all of her dancers and backup singers? “But she gave a huge bonus to everyone on her last tour!!” Okay, and what about the dozens of tours before that?
Nobody becomes a billionaire without exploiting someone.
“cold raw flesh”
Mom needs to learn to cook
Or maybe you just need to learn to read? This is clearly before cooking

What’s a virtual menu

Everyone loves working, as long you define work as “expending effort to accomplish a useful task” and not “enriching already-rich people while getting paid less than rent and food costs.”

You should absolutely start every task in Plan mode (maybe that’s cursor-specific) and iterate a few times before executing. Making sure a robust plan is in place before actually doing anything has reduced my failure rate to pretty-damn-near 0

The decentralization is there, but in theory the owner of the largest node could defederate from everyone else, forcing users to leave the largest instance or put up with it?
It would be a lot like Meta in that way - the only reason it has survived is because everyone was already there and there’s no way in hell to get everyone to switch to the same new thing. I genuinely don’t know which direction users would go, lemmy users are an odd bunch.

Tbf, it’s definitely brand based. The cheap ones are, unsurprisingly, well… cheap.

I don’t know, it seems to me that most people know how to ask a question or make a request. It’s not that different.
You don’t actually use AI in any professional capacity, huh
Man, I disagree with all of this. The frontier models are actually good, and basically everyone in my F500 company has been using it. The codebases i work on are super-legacy java, where it does great despite us having like 75 different patterns for each task, and a massive front-end web repo where it thrives because we’ve been extremely strict in typing and patterns leading up to this. It even does pretty well across repo boundaries, despite having significantly lower context for those situations.
I genuinely will never understand the people saying they suck. Are the worth the price? I have no idea, I’ve never used them for personal project. But they are at least as good as a dev with 3-5 years of experience, at this point. Our career is boned.
