This is what I do and have had vastly better experiences than with Bluetooth.

Fairphone has been a really disappointing experiment in so-called sustainable tech over the years. They keep making new phones instead of continuing to support the old ones, which might be greenwashing. (Whereas if you got a legacy Framework 13, it’s still user-repairable and upgradable.) If they wanted to make a non-upgradable device, maybe it would have been wise to make it high-end to futureproof to work until 4G gets phased out. Fairphone still is not making their products available in the U.S., and Murena is a borderline scam company and I am genuinely shocked Fairphone works with them.

And I’ve heard their logic with the headphone jack, but I do think AUX is the lesser of two evils as removing it will just lead to more e-waste with broken bluetooth headphones that rarely last as long as good wired ones. Fairphone’s own bluetooth accessories have gotten negative reviews for their lower build quality, so Fairbuds are likely not the solution to the headphone jack problem.

For the simple fact that non-Europeans can buy them directly off the website, I would sooner recommend feature phones from Sunbeam as it also has user-replaceable batteries and you can send it in for repairs. Or just any phone used.

I would not recommend Murena for U.S. customers. I attempted buying a FP4 from them, and they put $6000 in charges to my credit card. Their message-only customer service was terrible and tried to blame me. Had to get my bank involved.

Living so close to Ontario, Canada, and getting air adisories for all the horrible wildfires they’ve been having, it’s a little painful to see lol 🙃 .

But if OP’s geography allows them to do it safely, it’s a really cozy portable setup.

I love that tent! It’s the perfect blend of indoor and outdoor. Beautiful campsite too.

Do you get good waterproofing on the inside part of the tent? Here in the northern part of the U.S., it gets so wet all the time that we always bring ground tarps to put under our tents.

And I totally agree that this debate is too big considering it only targets a tiny handful of athletes. I say it’s complicated because some arguments used feel, circumstantial? As in, “Trans women should play with women because there’s only a couple of them anyway?” Would acceptance of that argument lead to tokenism? BWhat if, for whatever reason, a sports team happened to take on a lot of trans woman? I think that would be okay, but I worry it would dredge the debate up all over again.

Or, people often say, “Trans women should be allowed to play with women because they rarely win anyway.” But what if a trans woman ends up on a winning streak and then another controversy erupts? I feel uncomfortable that our condition for entry is framed as our failure to win, and that if we win, then by implication we get othered as opposed to just being a woman who won a sports game one time. This is to say, I’m just thinking aboug how we come to a supporting argument that ages with grace? And what argument should that be? Not that I think any pro-trans argument would satisfy some people, with it being the wedge issue that makes TERFS out of people originally left of center. I guess I don’t know the answer at this point.

It’s a complex issue for sure, but I’m really proud of this thread for consistently using the term “trans women” when talking about the differences between trans women compared to cis women and cis men in sports.

On Reddit, most people on this debate just say “biological males,” “males,” or “men” in situations where they’re clearly talking about trans women, which is a clear tell that it was never about fairness in sports for them.

I deeply wish this would happen, but know it would never happen in my lifetime in my country.

I’ve been working full time, sometimes overtime, for almost five years out of college. I want to practice piano more. I’d love to volunteer. I want to go outside more. I’ve always wanted to spend a month backpacking in the Pacific Northwest. It’s been my lifelong dream to write a book.

I’m so exhausted after work every single day that I can only get myself to play piano for a half an hour, and then play video games or read until I pass out before my bedtime.
