NessD@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Google & Facebook partner admits it can listen to device microphone to serve ads - DexertoEnglish364·8 months agoHave you read the article? They’re claiming (!) that they would use ads on websites to use mic data. If you know anything about Android or IOS, you’ll know that you have to give mic permission to your browser for it to have access to anything. THEN the browser itself checks if a website needs access to your mic and you have to willingly give it. And lastly: Android indicates when your mic is hot with a green dot. So all of their claims are bs.
Come back if one of the OS developers admit to always listen on an OS level.

NessD@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.ml•Should one remove all Reddit posts and comments?63·9 months agoYeah, not actively supporting reddit anymore is one thing, but with deleting every comment/post you basically just hurt users. Reddit doesn’t give a fuck.
You won’t believe how often I search for a problem only to find 50 "Thank you"s for a deleted comment.
That was one of my biggest revelations last year. Figuring out I have ADHD and that’s why it’s hard for me to understand people, especially in crowded and loud spaces. Sometimes I found myself simultaneously listening to music, other people’s conversations and my own conversations. Makes it quite difficult sometimes.

It was basically the only thing I found that updates in real time and it is highly customizable. If you find something simpler, let me know. I’m also looking. :)

NessD@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do bike tires increase pressure in summer?2·1 year agoSomething I thought about recently as well. I might be wrong, but is pressure not just a differential from inside to the outside? If it gets warm, air expands inside the tire, but so does the air outside, pushing back. It kinda sounds right, but I don’t know.
There is a timer bar card in HACS.

NessD@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do people just not use the YouTube subscription feed?71·2 years agoMy theory for the apparent need of “click the bell for notifications” is not that videos don’t show up in the subscription feed but that most people just use the home page to get informed which does not show all content. My subscription feed worked without a hitch and not a single missed video since it’s inception. I strongly believe most people just don’t know about the subscription feed.
This game hinges on people being greedy.
