Someone needs to do it. But not me. That sounds like work.

How does this argument apply to Lemmy? I get the number of instances could be confusing but you don’t have to know or care about any of that. If you don’t you just land on some registration page and do it. I honestly don’t see how that’s more technical than registering to Reddit, Facebook or Instagram.
Especially not discord you mean.
Only the early ones. By definition millenials are birth years 1981 to 1996, so the last ones were 11 when the first iPhone released.
I think every generation has their percentage of nerds and that just was a little higher in late Gen X and early millenials because computers were so new and you had to tinker to get anything working.
Funny that you chose an architect. Since they are basically document producers (also software architects), they tend to be able to type pretty proficiently.
That’s like 80% autocorrect anyway (I didn’t write a single word correctly in this sentence).
Yet more whataboutism. This thread is about tankies not capitalist slavery.
It’s extremely unconvincing to say “Sure it was horrible last time, but next time it’ll be different.” Trotskyists and ultraleftists compensate by prettying up their picture of socialism and picking more obscure (usually short-lived) experiments to uphold as the real deal. But this just gives ammunition to those who say “Socialism doesn’t work” or “Socialism is a utopian fantasy.” And lurking behind the whole conversation is Stalin, who for the average Westerner represents the unadvisability of trying to radically change the world at all. No matter how much you insist that your thing isn’t Stalinist, the specter of Stalin is still going to affect how people think about (any form of) socialism — tankies have decided that there is no getting around the problem of addressing Stalin’s legacy. That legacy, as it stands, at least in Western public opinion (they feel differently about him in other parts of the world), is largely the product of Cold War propaganda.
That’s the gist. Then he goes on with another paragraph of whataboutism but of course not a single mention of the tens of millions of dead both, Stalin and Mao, were responsible for.
Of course he’s also an western armchair socialist. People that actually lived in the Sowjet Union (and not in today’s Russia) draw quite a different picture.
Not sure how this is a crime… breach of TOS, sure, but a crime?
What law is being broken here?
Not curious enough to actually read the article, eh?
Indicted on three counts involving money laundering and wire fraud
One may argue about money laundering but it’s pretty clearly fraud.
27,000 and 1.5
Why do 27 and 000 belong closer together than 1 and 5? Both numbers are incomplete when leaving out a component.
You can argue either way honestly
Agreed, it’s completely arbitrary.
more of the world use periods for decimal notation
It’s two pretty large groups but you’ve got India and China, so population wise it’s pretty clear. Let’s make a deal: we (Europe) switch to the dot as decimal separator if the US switches to metric.
Having a full stop between thousands is just as stupid. It’s completely arbitrary. It’s only unfortunate that it’s yet another difference hindering communication (and numbers parsing, dammit)
Commas are literally for separating related ideas in a single sentence.
While I personally think it’s arbitrary which characters to use as separators I can’t follow that logic.
Thinking of sentences, a comma separates stuff that belongs together while a dot is literally a full stop. All of the comma/dot separated parts belong to the same number though. So, why are thousands/millions more closely related than integers/digits?
Movie is from 1992, so it would be 60k today. Still not enough considering what famous movie actors make.
Could be a microphone…
My wife is T1 too and I wholeheartedly agree. The development in that area is outrageously slow and locked down (and then there’s healthcare providers with whom you have to fight tooth and nails to get your ancient pump upgraded - another story and country-specific).
What about that trunk though? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
But now we have AI! Both and many more problems will be solved any time now…
Winners of dog fight bets probably
With new possibilities due to new tech user demands rise, too. People asked for features like group or video chats or coupled devices (not trivial with E2EE) and since good companies listen, they developed those and still do.
Also, I don’t think there’s a single IRC client still in use that hasn’t been updated since the 80s. I wouldn’t be surprised if your favorite client got an update in the last couple of months - and that despite it being a trivial protocol.
Probably don’t know how to get it to run.
