Hows it a red herring to point out we are allowed to use copyrighted materials already? Its not the concern here, yet its what they are using as the concern for their arguments against it.

I mean anyone can use copyrighted material as inspiration for their work and it’s fair use and not a concern at all.
Is Ai only bad since it can do what a human does better/faster? If that’s that case, than they don’t actually have an issue with the fact it’s copyrighted, or I wouldn’t be able to use it for inspiration either.
The issue is the dev asked Valve for permission, so if they give the go ahead Nintendo has a case that valve condoned and allowed it.
If the dev used the open source tools it wouldn’t matter, they used the proprietary Nintendo tools that aren’t publicly available.
There is open source tools, but to port everything over would take too much time.
They could have given a different answer, or worked with them to find a solution, but they went with the cheapest and easiest.
As I said earlier, fans excuse and hide the rest.
Portal 64, they used the non open source code/tools, so Nintendo does have a bit of a case, hence why they are hesitant to give permission after the dev asked them.
One of those if they never asked, probably wouldn’t be an issue since valve never “knew of it”.
They also told a dev to stop developing a game since if they gave the go ahead Nintendo could potentially go after them.
They care about money more than anything else, just like any other corporation.
They used to disallow adult games, they don’t allow NFT or crypto.
They have drawn plenty of lines, and moved them when it benefits them. They are just like any other corporation, they just hide it really well and the fans forgive or hide the rest for them.
Lemmy has 3 different feeds with 8 different ways to sort them, atleast my viewer does…. What more do you want?
Curating a feed is best left to yourself, not someone who can tweak the algorithm to avoid certain posts showing up since they have an agenda.
Except it’s for any “game news”……, so if they are peddling another game of theirs, it shows up there as well. Or we are selling a plushie, it’s there in the same place. It’s not just patch notes dude… and never has been either.
If people bitch about ads, than they shouldn’t find those acceptable either. You can have a store and showcase products without the additional ads.
I believe they are what people call a hypocrite, they have LOL in their username.
That’s an apt comparison actually, since yeah stores do have ads as well as products….
Edit picture doesn’t seem to be working, here
If it gets in the way of communicating, sure. Butobviouslythatwasn’ttheissue here.
Ads are ads, just because it from the same ecosystem is moot. I don’t need the steamdeck paraded in my face on every page I view. It’s ads
It is, but steam does have its own form of advertising. Their front page is all ads for games and sales, go to your library there is ads for updates for your games.
It just seems to be acceptable since it’s their ecosystem content, but it’s still ads for all intent and purposes.
It’s already in some games unfortunately…
So where do we draw the line on when new words can’t be created anymore? Shakespeare? Wassup? Crunk? Your username even has LOL in it, I don’t think we should be taking language lessons from someone who parades that around….
An online forum lacking in content and engagement isn’t the place to make a stand against minor mistakes that don’t detract from the conversation.
I posted it on my website as fan art and it scraped it. I just used a different filter which falls under fair use.
