Back in 1988 I had a school project with a few people, one of whom came from a wealthy family. The project was regarding the stock market, and each team was given a certain amount of imaginary money to invest, to see who would win out at the end of the semester. My friend with the wealthy family came back with a recommendation from his father, of course, and we won the contest easily.
The recommendation? Put all our funds into Berkshire Hathaway.
I had the golden goose egg right in front of me and never invested a dime.
Came here to say this. If I had an AI buddy that could do all sorts of stuff for me and talk about history all day with me on long drives while making sure I was perfectly safe and secure and basically be my best artificial friend…
I’d be riding that train.
I can’t really describe to you how angry I was when that shit went through. Like… I knew it was ridiculous to get so angry but, I LOVED THAT FREAKING APP.
And that’s what people don’t understand. Every time I warn people of the dictator just waiting to break out of Trump’s fat ass, they say he’s too stupid to do it.
Then I tell them it doesn’t matter… that he’s built a whole team of them waiting to take his place with a solid plan to do it.
This was my recent problem in Texas. Was also throwing the breaker on the reg.
No commentary on the fact that they launched them with a helium leak in the first place? Seriously? They found the problem and scrubbed a launch, only to go forward with it when they couldn’t figure it out. WTF man.
Now the helium leak is worse, and you’re just gonna give them a pass.
Most of hacking is done by mass effort with maybe a couple percent of people that aren’t doing basic things to protect themselves being affected. That couple of percent is enough to keep the hackers flush. (So please, follow basic cybersecurity steps, people.)
The plain truth of the matter, though, is that if a hacker or group of hackers is targeting someone individually for reasons, that person is in real trouble.
This has been a PSA for everyone chasing fame and clout.
lmao just bought one of these last week! Glad the fix is already out.
And no, I didn’t buy it for its looks xD It’s actually a decent router that does additional things I needed.
I’ve seen this over and over in corporate environments.
Suit A has a terrible idea but enough fawning bootlickers to get the process moving.
Worker A, an employee, knows this is a terrible idea but doesn’t say anything because they wanna keep their job.
Contractor B, obv a contractor, is there to make money and hopefully turn their stint into something more, so they speak up. And get canned.
What is it about Suits that they can’t listen to literally anyone but their own echo chambers? Oh yeah, they’re angling to jump into a bigger echo chamber. The 1%.
“Well, BYE!”
Because you can’t pack it up in a box and ship it to just anyone. They have to make it specifically for you. Hence case-by-case.
Don’t think that exists anymore.
You mean like every cop going to a mental health call? This is a world you helped build.
AI said kill this guy right here
Driving slow in the left hand lane
Takes pride in it, like most MAGAs
If I had to login to every account I wanted to pay manually I’d prob be bankrupt xD
“Jump before the plane hits the ground!”
Bittorrent is a file sharing protocol, which isn’t inherently dangerous. The ‘torrent’ contains the information that’s being passed around to allow connectivity to that particular file. This is also not inherently dangerous as that information is very specific and limited… and doesn’t allow any other user to browse the rest of your computer.
What may be dangerous is downloading a file that contains malware or viruses via a torrent. Use reputable sites and keep your security software up to date. Better yet, use a different computer for this activity with a vpn.
