If he would’ve done it early in his term, I suspect Trump would not have been elected president again. But instead he pushed the idea through some absurdly bureaucratic system that allowed Trump to run the clock out on everything.

I remember the old Internet. Honestly, lemmy is the only thing I’ve encountered that feels even like the newer part of the old Internet.

The only fast food I enjoyed in recent memory was Pizza Hut. During some scare about MSG they removed all of the MSG and I ordered it a time or two after that and it was nearly inedible.

I suspect similar things happened with other types of fast food. I think there’s a flanderization effect happening with a lot of it. The same is definitively not the case for things like pizza in general, as I can order from my local NY-style pizza place and pizza is still just as good as it ever was.

All that is to say it wouldn’t surprise me at all if fast food was objectively shittier across a number of different metrics.

I just tried that…went searching for a room and amongst some software package rooms the two I stumbled upon that made me nope the fuck out are “COVID-19 truth” or similar, and some pro-trump mafia thing that had the n-word in its description. I tried to search for something even in the state of california and the closest I got was a gay hookup channel.

I understand that, but at the same time, I still don’t think that’s the majority of the voter base for Trump.

Every Trump voter is either an asshole, enables assholes, tolerates assholes, or is some combination of those things.

There is a possibility that in their haste to suck him off, the Republicans either all but eliminate or completely nuke the filibuster. If this happens and we have another election, there is no way it isn’t a positive development IMO. The filibuster absolutely sucks and is a clear obstacle to majoritarian rule in the country.

If they pull this to do wildly unpopular things on a short time scale, it will suck, no doubt, but they will likely pay a huge price for doing unpopular things in the next cycle.

Essentially, while I do believe their beliefs are often wrong and misguided, I don’t think that most of them believe they’re even causing harm in the first place, let alone enjoy doing so.

I dunno man, the liberal tears shit, the “your body my choice” shit, the “hang Mike Pence chants”, the insurrection, people rolling coal and flying Trump flags off cities in f-150s, etc etc. A lot of them fully know they’re being assholes at very least. There are surely some kinder, gentler fascists among them but like, those ones are ok with the constant asshole behavior as well so they’re enablers.

It sucks to learn that so many people are like this or at very least accepting of it. I bought democrats’ collective “it’s a loud minority” for a time, but at some point you just have to accept that this country is full of ignorant, fascist-loving, borderline-psychopathic assholes, or continue deluding yourself.

I don’t think all of them enjoy inflicting pain, but Gen Z Trump voters are just Trump voters, and some of them certainly enjoy inflicting pain (especially those walking around puppeting rape threats). I find the actions people take to be more illustrative of their character than imagined back stories.

No offense to you, but I’ve personally read tens of thousands of words in the wake of 2016 about economic anxiety only to have those same people suddenly about face on every economic issue once “their guy” took over and the opening of your post reminded me a lot of that.

It’s always “it’s not all women, just not this woman” when it comes to presidential misogyny.

I think the best bet for getting a woman in the white house is to have a major TV show where a popular actress plays the president, and then have that actress run for president afterwards. Americans are so unimaginative that they probably need the visual example, and then some are probably stupid enough to think they’re voting for the incumbent.

Man I cannot take another four years of “won’t you think of the poor lowly Trump voters?” (this time Gen Z style). The original was cringeworthy and I doubt I’ll like the sequel any better.

People have bigger problems than your average Gen Z white male Trump voter, as I’m sure they’re accustomed to telling others online and in real life whom complain (when they aren’t going on call of duty n-word tyraids and having discord chats with other idiots).
