Well, we live in a 2-party country. “Social Democrat” will have to be a subset of the Democratic Party the same way “Libertarian” is a subset of the Republican Party.
You might be able to have a 3rd party in down ballot races. But not for president.
Personally, I think the move is to slowly fill the ranks with people like Mamdani and AOC among others. The only reason we have those people is cause Bernie ran a great campaign inspired people. Hopefully this trend continues.
Are people actually saying she couldn’t get elected cause she’s a “progressive woman”? Seems like age an experience would be the obvious reasons people would say she can’t win.
I love AOC, and hope she runs and would root for her every step of the way. But I would be shocked if she won the nomination simply because House of Representatives is her only real achievement. Seems more likely she would run for Senate before running for president.

I always assumed there was a rule, but it looks like very few states actually have rules. KY being one of those states.
I know the rules around interim senators is different for all states. I assume any appointment would be a republican. A special election might benefit dems, i just don’t believe KY is really moving left. They traditionally elect a democrat governor, but are hard R for all national elections.
For KY, it’s probably better to leave his seat empty as long as possible.
