1·3 days agoIf it’s a free market within the country, the vaccuum created by the wealthy leaving will be filled in by smaller business servicing the same industries.
Big corporations that have wealth concentrating with the top brass and share holders do not add anything of value to the market over cooperatives and other worker owned incentive structures.

World News@lemmy.world•Police spot toddler steering car on German autobahnEnglish
284·4 days agoSensationalism.
- The woman had a car-sick two year old on her lap in the driving seat.
- The woman was still driving the car herself.
- The toddler was not steering the vehicle even if they had their hands on the steering wheel.
- The woman was not driving fast. They were just driving to a fast-food restaurant.
- The woman was not driving to the fast food restaurant because the kid was sick.
- The woman was texting and driving.
So there’s really two egregious things here only:
- child not in their seat
- texting while driving
Based on the headline and first paragraph I was imagining a scenario where the toddler was driving the car with auto-pilot on while the woman was on her phone playing Balatro.
Edit: re-reading the German article, she was indeed driving to a fast food restaurant because the kid didn’t feel well. Understandable though. Döner withdrawal symptoms are life threatening.

Pre-sleep bedtime screentime is now reserved for Balatro (likely equally terrible to social media feed) or light reading (probably miles above those, but pales in comparison to paperback).

62·4 days agotbh I looked at audio jacks in internals, and they do usually have double the footprint on a pcb than what you see outside of it, at least on low end consumer devices:

That’s not to say that they couldn’t put anything more compact in a highend device like a smart phone.

The plates are limited to 2 letters only for the state/province. The reason Bremen, Hamburg and Lübeck have their own province code is due to their provincial level city status retained from the middle ages.
