Yeah. It’s a pretty big part of their business model.
From my new user experience it seems like active comments get placed higher regardless of upvoted. i.e. comments that are still being commented on or new ones.
There’s nothing about it on the top two pages of Reddit so either people don’t care or let’s get out our tinfoil hats and make this make sense.
I’ve never had any interaction good or bad with them in my 11 years on Reddit. I consider that a good thing. They’re in the background doing what needs to be done and I appreciate that.
Most people aren’t concerned about privacy outside of places like here and Reddit.

Question regarding the phone thing. Am I one of the only people that doesn’t care about changing my battery or is this more a popular opinion on Lemmy/Reddit?

That is a good point. I forgot newspapers existed. Bigger ones would do color(mostly on Sunday) but yeah, regular pics were black and white.
It’s crazy that from 1826 all the way to 1990 they hadn’t figured out color photos.

I can drive a car from where I’m at right now to where you’re at right now. And I’m not even going to ask where you’re at. I think that’s pretty neat.
But I do agree, walkability and reliable public transit are super nice. The time I’ve spent in smaller, remote ski towns where I could walk/bike or take a bus anywhere in a short amount of time are some of my favorite memories.
Let me tell you my favorite feature on Apollo. “Filter Subreddit”. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen the same article from a different news/world news/etc instance(? Sorry, not up with the vernacular yet) just blanketing my home page.

This comment to me is a perfect example of something that doesn’t add anything to the conversation. But should I downvote it or ignore so it can possibly branches off into another conversation about “lol Christians” or something else?
