It gives you a Linux VM but the only interface is the terminal. I’ve used this with a ChromeOS fork.

So it’s free?
We don’t need “connectivity free models”, just give us a way to disable it.
On my phone, I just pull down from the dropdown menu and toggle off whatever connectivity I don’t want on at the time. EZPZ.
Same goes for “hand wash only”
I soak them in denture cleaner
Unfortunately Elon is still getting away with his shenanigans

If it makes you feel better, he’s about $30B poorer since buying Twittet.
All very true but they’ll also charge you (1-time) to software-unlock your seat heaters, motor and battery.
Yeah Android Auto should be all the connectivity you need.
Yeah, I mean it’s like any art. I may not like it, but I appreciate diversity. In the case of the van, I actually like it. And where other autonomous companies are just taking existing vehicles and modifying them, Tesla represents a new way of thinking about autonomous transport from the ground up, much like they did with electric cars in general.
I was considering a Mazda for my next car. Now I’m not.
I get it but also Mazda is not the only one doing this. They all are. Your only option would be to buy an older car without connected services and hope that you never need another one.
Why screens instead of windows?
I mean theoretically you could use Miracast or similar technology to cast whatever you want onto those displays, whether that’s watching movies/TV or doing work from your computer.
It has windows.
Why does it look like it’s from a video game?
I mean why do vehicles from video games looks like they do? Because they’re cool. You can say a lot of things about Tesla but you can’t call them conventional. Sometimes that’s good, and sometimes not so much. Beauty is subjective.
No statements on production for the robovan. Cost he said would be $0.05-0.10/mile, though unclear if that was to the owner or to the customer. Double that for the customer and it’s still very cost effective.
I don’t want to yuck your yum but I think it looks badass. I think the concept is badass. I don’t want to own a car but I also can’t afford a chauffeur. We don’t have much of any public transit in my area. Bike paths are making progress but still not what I would consider safe. An autonomous van that carries 20 passengers would be very cost-effective. It’s not an ideal solution but may be the best one we could actually implement using existing infrastructure and without voter approval.
Also that bottom part appears to be a similar height to any typical car to me, and is supposedly just an aerodynamic skirt that will fold up if it actually hits anything. That’s what I’ve read but obviously can’t verify.
This is not the robotaxi
(even if they haven’t let people start hosting their own blue sky instances).
They have, but they’re still dependent on BS servers, so they’re functionally indifferent.
Either you’re following the wrong people or this says more about you than it does about mastodon
Or maybe you just want to see more relevant and interesting posts from the people you follow at the top of your feed rather than digging through hundreds of people crying about politics or talking about their dog walk this morning…?
Here’s a 1-word explanation: enshittification. AKA The “loss leader” approach.
I was able to talk my org into leaving Meetup for the same reasons. It’s just progressively getting worse, advertising to our users while simultaneously raising fees. Removing the ability to sync calendars. They also won’t give us the email addresses of any of our users unless we upgrade to “pro” (for an additional fee, of course), and even then, only the ones who RSVP to our events.
Raising fees is one thing, but doing so while removing features and adding just blatant irrelevant advertisements aint gonna work for me.
Probably because ChromeOS is only installed on crappy computers. Runs like lightning on my Lenovo.
