A lovely lady behind the Wendy’s
Scrolled through a ton of comments but honestly this sums it all up for me. Lemmy isn’t large enough to support niche memes and content.
To my shame, I’m still deeply ingrained in the Google ecosystem. I settled on it like 8-10 years ago and I’m not sure how to dig myself out of this pit. More than Chrome, I heavily use Docs, Sheets, Drive, Wallet, YouTube, Gmail, I even have a Pixel (I hate how bloated Samsung is).
I’ve used Firefox a little for work because of the nice containers feature. Is Google Drive bad too? It’s so easy to share things, I torrent a lot of books and I’ve shared with a bunch of friends, idk if there’s an alternative that others could easily use.
You should really talk to HR. If you’re super duper non-confrontational, I see maybe two other options:
Chastise Ann for not having your back. Make her tell Ned to stop being a creep
Talk to Ned’s boss informally and say Ned has made uncomfortable comments/advances.
I’ve only read Cradle, the other stuff is as good? What should be next?
A fellow man of culture I see
Sorta depends on the tribe I think. At least for me, my grandfather has his card (Choctaw) and that was the only requirement for me. My DNA test showed something like 0.1% native.
I had to look this up, didn’t know about Bowie. He had underage groupies, at least as young as 15 (Lori Mattix). Apparently she remembers that time fondly, but today we would rightly call it coercion and pedophilia. She was treated kindly, probably given all the drugs she “wanted”, but that’s still a child.
There’s a counter argument about how later in life, he refused a kissing scene between him and Jennifer Connelly during Labyrinthe, and that shows he understands the age gap is wrong.
I don’t regularly listen to David Bowie. I can sometimes separate the art from artist, but I’m now gonna have trouble knowing he was having sex with (raping) a 15 year old girl.
Eric Clapton is super racist, John Lennon abandoned his kid.
You are 100% correct.
I think OP agrees with you too, but the question is more around the “why”. Once, we were also like animals, and didn’t have clothing. To the animal brain, things like large breasts or wide hips means better reproduction. Did we start to cover up because it was cold and we got sick? It makes more sense to me that we started for practical reasons, and the hyper-sexualization came later, probably with religion.
Today, women are sexualized to an insane degree, and expanded to any number of inane body parts and not just breasts.
I think OPs question could also be phrased as “why did sex become so taboo?” And we might get a broader picture.
As a counterpoint, I like it in video games for the same irl reason: it saves time.
I do love games where it feels alive when traveling on foot/horse/etc. but I would rather fast travel if I’ve already explored it, generally speaking.
At least it’s drawn to scale, but yeah I get it. Starting at 7k probably makes it easier to read.
I might be a moron, but how can a business be down in revenue but up in profit?
Edit: confirmed moron. Their expenses were just that much lower.
Phone numbers actually can be an identity, but generally that’s just business numbers. There’s also a lot of phone numbers that aren’t cell phones and can’t get texts. It’s a lot easier and cheaper for companies to design one system. Depending on the company, they’ll still do text/email reminders for things. Old people like phone calls, so companies need to know their audience too. Again, cheaper to build a single system, so that tends to be the default.
Source: I design call centers for a living, personally done probably 200+ projects over the years, in banking, insurance, retail, transportation, state/local govt, etc.
When your weapons are dollars, we are woefully ill equipped
Fair. Should’ve put “bombshell” in quotes lol
Honestly what the fuck.
Curious to see what bombshell they plan on dropping on Monday, because this is wild.
There’s another mechanism, it’s just competition. They can’t go too high or else they’ll price themselves out. Minimum wage here is still $7.25/hr
It depends on local regulations. There’s no federal law that limits the rent increase, if given notice. Like I’m pretty sure NYC has some kind of rent control, but at least here in Oklahoma it’s not common.
Edit: I found this, and I now feel worse
the state has rules that prevent local governments from creating their own rent control laws. In simpler terms, landlords in Oklahoma have the power to decide how much rent they want to charge without any legal limitations from the state or local authorities.
Thank you for actually providing an explanation beyond stating the word “science”
