Well, I think it’s clear that this would work. The only question is what distances it could reach? 100m? a kilometer? more?

10·10 days agoI started replacing “to google sth.” with " to search sth." since I use several search engines besides google and for some of them using the brand name is just ridiculous.

12·10 days agoI’ve heard people referring to the internal search function of a program as “google”.
One time someone wanted to use “find and replace” in VsCode and he just said “I google the word and replace it”.
Dota came first
This is true. However, League was the first ‘big’ moba that was a standalone game and it quickly felt more polished/modern than the Warcraft mod to me. If dota 2 came out earlier I think I would have never left it and I would have never even tried league of legends.

5·3 months agoI’m quite happy with Mistrals https://chat.mistral.ai/chat. I have not done much research on Mistral but from the headlines I read they don’t seem like bad guys.
The general quality of the answers is slightly worse than chat gpt (IMO). But I like some features like agents and document libraries in the free tier

Yeah. It’s more like this. If gamers had this kind of power things would not get worse every year.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•If you record yourself talking to someone and then watch the video... it feels very weird... like a bizzare out-of-body experience...
2·4 months agoWould we still find it weird if we didn’t know that is our own voice that is being played? Like if somebody plays a recording of me from last week where I said something general that everybody could have said?
Think of Arch as the distro not as it’s users. Sure you can install Arch as a noob by copy pasting from ArchWiki or nowadays just using fancy install scripts.
However, if you pay attention and maybe fuck up a few times then you will get that knowledge.
Also ArchWiki is a source of knowledge that is valid not only for arch but most other distos as well.

However, where I lived it was possible to opt out from this.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Is Pixelfed sawing off the branch that the Fediverse is sitting on?English
2·6 months agoThen this would be pretty shitty.
However, pixelfed is very straightforward about the fact that the focus is on image posts and even if they would not advertise that fact you should realize in less than five minutes of using it that all the posts you see are image posts.
Additionally there are enough apps out there that show all content (I use the default mastodon app to see image posts as well as text posts, etc.). If this is what you want just choose that app.
And if somebody makes an app that only shows text posts then this would be great for people who only want to see text posts. I really don’t get the authors problem.

102·6 months agoWould you settle for a mail provider which silently drop all emails you receive if they contain the letter “P”?
Yes, if the mail provider is advertising the fact that they are dropping everything containing “P” AND if I’m currently not in the mood to read anything containing “P” AND if there are enough good alternative mail providers that do show me things containing “P”.
What a weird take.

Well, I think it’s not wrong to apply the same rules to any kind of vessel you take into the water. Therefore, it’s good to simply assume that every vessel in the water is some kind of boat so people don’t say ‘well akshually this is not a boat’ and do bullshit like this cybertruck driver.
