Technology@lemmy.world•US controls 90% of AI chip markets and produces far more advanced AI models than China, yet it has lost much of manufacturing capacity needed to build at scale and depends on rivals for materialsEnglish
3·3 months agoFirst, we are talking in the context of AI usage. Is the US military swarm you speak of run by AI and managed by one person with an intermittent signal? It’s not the number itself, it’s all the other aspects. That’s multiying drone power by 200× compared to a one drone to one pilot situation.
Do you happen to have the template for this? I need it
Yeah sorry about replying so flippantly, I edited it to be nicer, and you were right in your comment

2·3 months agoMilitary industrial will just do what they’ve done in the past: invest heavily in some European-accepted non-US arms company, shift the board and funding over, and allow it to absorb the US-side of the business. This playbook happened in WWI and WWII. Check out who is investing in Ukraine to become the new center of drone manufacturing, which is the newest big tech.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How come residential power lines aren't buried underground still?
4·3 months agoIf we can see that the huge influence corporations have is messing up the Texas power grid, and why don’t we assume that they are also influencing other infrastructures?
While it’s easy to assume that you can figure someone major personality traits out after a few minutes, that’s actually called a thin slice judgement which can drastically misrepresent people, especially neurodivergent people.
How does piefed defend against acts like this?

I’m just reading the code, no need for all caps. Have you tested it to see that, if you remove your defederated list, that it doesn’t fallback to defederating those?
I am reading it directly from the code in the repo.
