The only thing Big Tech can do that we can’t or won’t is take away peoples choices, rights and enshitify everything.

Contribute where you can! Doesn’t have to be code. Just being here gives us all more power. Those companies don’t want to admit WE ARE THEIR CONTENT. Without people they’re useless. We’re taking it back.

I run Fireside Fedi. A show where I talk with folks from around the Fediverse. It’s all Fedi powered as well. Live stream, Owncast (https://stream.firesidefedi.live/), VOD Peertube (https://tubefree.org/@firesidefedi), GoToSocial and testing Bonfire for the social accounts.

I’m obviously biased though. :-)

I have TubeFree.org which is run by my nonprofit, BT Free, in hopes I can have donations to keep it going. It is small, but growing. I’m biased though. :-D

The Fediverse is anything and everything. Yes, in general it’s a public forum, but if you run your own, you can still connect to others, have private conversations, etc. Until it really gets a groundswell and is tested in courts, I’d say we don’t honestly know at this point.

Is email considered a public forum? I can make a DM on my GoToSocial similarly as I can send emails specifically directly to people or an entire mailing list.

Only time will tell though.

I think shitjustworks is Lemmy or Piefed. So those apps could implement encryption and then yup!

Maybe someday GnuTaler, which is a direct bank payment system with full transparency. I think only one bank in Sweden (I think) is testing it ATM.
