I feel like there is a difference between voting for someone and voting against someone.

I don’t like how noted war criminal amd possible lizard person Dick Cheney endorsed Harris, but Cheney has never said, “I like what Harris is going to do”; instead, he tried to frame it as a vote against Trump because…well, it’s Trump.

And of course, right-wingers don’t have any capability for self-reflection, because the proper response to fucking Dick Cheney calling you evil is to look in the mirror and ask yourself some hard questions.

I want to be the one to point out that retired generals making political statements is heavily frowned upon, so for them to take a step beyond that and ENDORSE A CANDIDATE is practically unheard of except in fringe cases like Michael Flynn.

Upper brass is a pretty exclusive club, and retirees don’t generally make political statements to avoid stepping on the toes of the currently serving generals/admirals. If multiple generals/admirals felt the need to take this step, they would’ve done it with the knowledge and consent of current leadership.

Journeys (the shoe chain) and Hollister Co. both use Linux distros on their point of sale machines. Hollister’s machines are pretty locked down and can basically only run the RPoS software, but a lot of Journeys’ software is browser-based, so they have to be a bit more capable.

Pretty sure they’re both custom distros, though.

Since Republicans are using the law to dismantle the law, I fear that we’re at a point where it is necessary for Biden and Democrats to break the law in order to save it. I don’t have a lot of faith in that happening, but seeing Biden step aside for Harris makes me hope that they see the GOP as the existential threat that they are and weighing every option.

Regardless, we have to lend legitimacy to whatever they try to do, and we do that by running up the score in November. Harris has to win in dominating fashion, and if Republicans try to ratfuck their way into power, we cannot go quietly.

You can also assign some more blame to FDR for not having the masterminds of the Business Plot hanged.

It’s a smear campaign when compared to Trump’s behavior. On one hand, we have an old guy with a stutter who (at the very least) is still wise enough to surround himself with competent people. He may forget some things, but if you examine his record these past four years, he has wildly exceeded my very low expectations and demonstrated why he managed to make it to the Presidency.

On the other hand, you have another old guy who cannot open his mouth without telling bald-faced lies and whose mental state is rapidly deteriorating. Not to mention the crimes he’s committed. And yet, despite all this, the media is talking about how Biden is old and needs to drop out of the race, and not Trump.

Now, why do you think that is?

My tinfoil hat conspiracy is that because Biden has shown a willingness to go after corporate interests, the money people want him gone. Hence the smear campaign.

Biden may be old, but he’s at least wise enough to surround himself with competent people. We can (and should) do better, but more turmoil and uncertainty is just going to drive us into the clutches of fascism.

It’s actually kinda funny watching them flail around blaming nothing and everything because one of their own tried to shoot Trump. They were NOT prepared to deal with this situation at all.

The more I read about it, the more it reeks of a baseless smear campaign. CNN actively tried to make Biden look bad during the debate, and a huge chunk of the corporate media saw it and jumped on it.

It helped when Biden turned right around and had a strong showing at one of his campaign rallies. He had one off night, and everybody tried to make a mountain out of a molehill because they’re more concerned with making money than fighting the fascists.

More rope to hang himself with…I hope.

Thing is, all the other major manufacturers are just as bad or worse.

As a PC technician, HP still somehow has the best service and support, which speaks volumes about how bad everyone else is. Dell’s support tools are a generation behind HP’s, and Lenovo’s build quality is atrocious. Not to mention Lenovo’s technician support is so badly fragmented and poorly run, they default to having the customer send the device in for repair and avoid sending an on-site technician just so they can avoid dealing with technician support. Speaking from personal experience, getting to the right person when I have a problem or need to order additional parts is like pulling teeth, and even if I manage to reach someone, they’re usually equal parts incompetent and unhelpful.

And Apple doesn’t even want to service their stuff.

These days, you have to pick your poison.

If I’m Judge Merchan, I’d cite Trump’s naked attempts to intimidate the jury, witnesses, and the judge (as well as multiple violations of his gag order) as an excuse to throw the book at him.

I’d point out that all Trump had to do to get a slap on the wrist was keep his mouth shut, because it’s my understanding that most people convicted of falsifying business documents don’t get jail time; they usually just get fined, get some community service, maybe probation if it’s bad. Most first-time defendants characterize this crime as an innocent mistake and behave accordingly, but Trump and his ego had to run his mouth.

TikTok isn’t doing anything that any other major social media company isn’t also doing. The only difference being that TikTok is owned by a Chinese company, and not a US one.

Just banning one app does little to resolve the overall privacy and information nightmare that social media is.
