Where I’m from, “woke” is a generic code word used by white racists to refer to anything which doesn’t align to their principles. Any disagreement with their belief is simply labeled as “woke” because they cannot actually define and defend their use of the word, or directly name “the thing” (hard n----R word) out loud in public.

Even if it’s not misery per se, it’s an opportunity to find a current partner who holds more interest in shared hobbies (travel e.g.) or even find such a partner while traveling! Ending the current relationship now on a good (better?) note instead of letting it fester and breed resentment is worth a lot in my opinion. Part as friends or friendly if possible.
Piefed helped a number of communities reparent to their homeserver as-is when lemm.ee closed down, definitely a valid theory. meta@lemm.ee community final posts if you’re keen to farm data.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•A domain I like has expired, how do I go about registering it for myself?English
23·3 months agoI’ve been watching a domain name for years (15?) - it is a “funny prop from a niche movie” in the 90s that nobody even remembers and it’s length isn’t short etc., a name only a real nerd would even know (poilte cough). I’ve watched this domain pass from squatter to sqatter over the years, it doesn’t sell but keeps getting picked up as soon as it expires at the previous squatter. The dotcom domain registry system is completely broken in favour of crony capitalism.

29·3 months agoThe number of good domain names being squatted on is too damn high. They’ll never see a single one of my shiny nickels, much less a dirty old dime.

Aotearoa / New Zealand@lemmy.nz•The rider of a Harley Davidson motorcycle who killed two pedestrians had 70 driving infringements, as well as 11 previous convictions for bad driving
45·4 months agoIt’s not, directly - it would appear to be a bias the reporter injected; the real story is that this person is/was an active member of the “Filthy Few” MC - “filthy few” being a slogan used by the Hell’s Angels and patches given for doing the dirty work (look up Charles PeeWee Goldsmith). The brand of motorcycle has no material bearing on the crime committed - there is enough history of this person’s violent and criminal past presented; the mention of the bike brand has no purpose other than to incite moral outrage. Harley sold it’s first Police motorcycle in 1908.

The entire tone of the article feels… condescending? (not sure the exact feeling). It feels off in the way information is presented, like subtle disdain in the writing voice.
