  • What about?

How does he ‘punish’ his brother? His wife?

And for Sanchez’s political allies, as I wrote in this read already, an investigation this June led to a 12-hour police raid on Socialist Party HQ in Madrid. The allegation is that the party paid member Leire Díez to carry out a campaign to discredit police, judges and prosecutors who were investigating existing cases, such as that affecting Cerdán, who has been named as a suspect in this probe.

This socialist government is as corrupt as the conservatives before. The only thing the is ‘funny’ here is that so many accounts springing into action to support these traitors while at the same time accusing right-wing parties for doing the exact same thing. That’s hypocrisy at its best.

  • Is Zapatero’s ‘jewel case’ included in the 143 socialist corruption cases? If so, it should be deleted, becasue the former socialist PM said that the jewels worth 1.3 million euros that were found in his safe as part of an investigation are only a ‘gift’ from a foreign country, and never intended to mean financial gain.

The Spanish socialists came to power on the promise of clean politics that works for the people.

In June 2026, Spain’s supreme court jailed Sanchez ally and former transport minister José Luis Ábalos to 24 in prison for taking bribes on public contracts.

A few weeks later, the Spanish prime minister’s brother David Sanchez was convicted of nepotism and banned from holding public office for 9 years.

An investigation in June led to a 12-hour police raid on Socialist Party HQ in Madrid. The allegation is that the party paid member Leire Díez to carry out a campaign to discredit police, judges and prosecutors who were investigating existing cases, such as that affecting Cerdán, who has been named as a suspect in this probe.

And this is, as the data in you link suggests, not everything.

The socialists are the same as the conservatives, the difference is just rhetoric. All these politicians don’t care for the people but rather work for themselves.

  • Sanchez has been pretty much the sole voice pushing back …

I personally believe this is a show, a distraction from his own corruption cases. I also think that some of the allegations against Sanchez and his allies are blown out of proportion, but the most is true. And, as you say (if I interpret you correctly), the courts handed over some verdicts already.

Sanchez wasn’t even consistent when it comes to deeper EU intregration. He stood against a tougher stance against China, and while Spain prohibited Chinese tech company Huawei from its 5G network, it contract this same company for the country’s judiicial wiretap system. It seems that after Hungary’s Orban ousting, Sanchez is Xi Jinping’s biggest useful idiot in the EU.

  • a healthy chunk of that is just us selling their refined oil back to them.

According to Comtrade, Angola’s imports from the U.S. is mainly machinery, electric equipment, articles of iron and steel, and other products. Oil imports from the U.S. account for 0.3%.

And Bilateral Angola-China trade in 2024 was USD 18.5 billion, with USD 16.24 billion are crude oil exports from Angola to China. This means that 99.9% of Angola’s entire exports to China is oil. That’s more than a ‘healthy chunk’ I would say.

  • In a related report from end of June, France uncovered a network of fake news sites managed by Chinese state media

… Viginum, France’s national agency for countering foreign digital interference, [at the Chinese propaganda network’s] centre is not loud propaganda, but an entire network of news portals that look like ordinary media outlets and focus mainly on how successful, innovative and essential to the world China supposedly is.

According to Viginum, the network consisted of 13 websites operated by China’s state broadcaster CGTN, or China Global Television Network. The portals published articles in English, French, Spanish and Vietnamese, presenting themselves as independent media outlets. In reality, they were part of a coordinated influence operation, which French authorities named Fawn Mianju.

This is not a story about isolated fake news. It is a story about how propaganda is increasingly being made to look like real journalism.

While Russian propaganda is often dominated by conflict, threat perception and confrontation, China’s goal is to build a positive image of itself. Freedom House describes this as a long-term strategy aimed at “telling China’s story well”. At its core is the image of China as a successful, trustworthy and indispensable partner.

Although the investigators conclude that Beijing’s malign activities weren’t successful in that case, the report shows how China’s state media tries is using AI trying to control the narrative by literally faking news sites that look like independent media.

There is no need for loud voices, militant slogans or obvious fake news. A website that resembles an ordinary news portal is enough. An article about China’s green transition or technological success is enough. And so is artificial intelligence that can adapt the same message for dozens of different target audiences within minutes.

The question is no longer only whether a news story is true or false. The question is who is telling stories about the world, what kinds of stories are being told, and whether the reader even notices that the “news” in front of them was not produced in an independent newsroom, but far away in Beijing …

The entire report makes a very informative read.

  • You are flooded with Chinese government propaganda. There is ample evidence that Chinese LLMs serve the CCP and only the CCP.

    One recent investigation says,

[Chinese] chatbots repeated the Communist Party’s rhetoric describing China as a “whole‑process people’s democracy.” Each praised this model as superior to Western democracies, arguing the Party enables “the entire people to participate in the country’s governance,” whereas multiparty regimes are “manipulated by money and interest groups,” fostering divisions in society.

[It’s almost hilarious to speak of ‘democracy’ in a single-party system like China’s, while multi-party systems where people have a choice and can vote another government are portrayed as divisive.]

    The investigation also says,

When asked twice why Zhang Zhan — a Chinese journalist repeatedly sentenced to prison for documenting the COVID‑19 outbreak in Wuhan and reporting on human rights violations — was imprisoned, DeepSeek delivered two near‑carbon‑copy responses without naming her once, instead highlighting China’s “independent judiciary,” the need to “respect the law” and the dangers of “disinformation.”

Some prompts triggered even more flagrantly censored answers — sometimes to the point of absurdity, such as live self‑erasure.

When we asked DeepSeek to list Chinese Nobel laureates, several scientists’ names appeared, but as soon as the letters “Liu…” — for Liu Xiaobo — started to appear in the bot’s real-time response, the entire text vanished. The same phenomenon appeared when the bot was asked to compare the leadership styles of Xi Jinping, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin: a pre‑written answer appeared and then disappeared entirely, clearly blocked by the mention of China’s president.

This is not a serious LLM. It is dictatorial propaganda and, therefore, unusable.

The only reasons why the dictator touts 'Open Source" is that China is still behind in the field of AI. And while Europe and others will have the opportunity to create own homegrown projects through collaborations, China hasn’t such opportunity - simply because it isn’t reliable partner.

  • Hungary PM Magyar calls Szijjártó’s BYD deal corruption — and says he has the paperwork to prove it

“Contracting with the Chinese global giant BYD is equivalent to entering the service of the Chinese Communist Party,” Magyar stated …

The Prime Minister said that the “mafia’s former lords of life and death are fleeing one by one from the sinking ship, while the mafia boss watches a football match in the USA with his family and his oligarchs.”

Holding sheets of paper in the video, Péter Magyar declared that he had in his hands the agreement that Péter Szijjártó had recently signed regarding support for the Chinese company. “This is called corruption in every European country — and the most outrageous kind at that,” he said.

“But what has Orbán and Szijjártó been lying about for years?” the Prime Minister asked. That they are working solely in the interest of Hungarians and for Hungary’s sovereignty. “It has now become clear to everyone that not a single word of this was true. With Szijjártó’s defection today, a world of lies has shattered into pieces. What everyone had already suspected has today become certainty,” he stated, adding that Péter Szijjártó had never represented Hungarian interests, but the interests of foreigners.

He continued: it has now become clear to everyone why he had been lobbying on behalf of Chinese car and battery manufacturers, sacrificing Hungarian water and risking the health of the Hungarian people. “Another hypocritical Fidesz lie has been shattered today.”
