This was in comparison to the Mosin Nagant which is a big beefy boy and hard to lug around. Also the SKS was designed 4 years before the AK47.

I’m all for gun control but the guy who shot Scalise did it with an SKS and a handgun. Neither of those are classified as assault weapons.
