I remember the day and exactly what I was doing when I found out that traitor was no longer going to be the president of the most powerful country in the world any longer. It was one of the biggest reliefs ever. Trump doesn’t represent me, he doesn’t represent my values or behave in a way that I want my children to model. He is the opposite actually — he is a fucking disgrace and the longer he stays out of prison the more crimes he will commit.

I live in a super liberal town, and EVERYONE was pouring into the streets. It was an impromptu parade, basically. It felt like we just won war.

My MIL’s birthday is early in November, and she comes to visit us every year (we live in New York, she’s in the Midwest). That year the three of us drank an irresponsible amount of bourbon and just… sobbed while we watched the results come in.

The 45 years were fucking exhausting. And I’m in no hurry to repeat them.

His term was the longest decade of my life. I don’t remember if I had a celebratory dram but I remember the immense relief washing over me.

45 years would be exhausting! That’s 50% longer than I’ve been alive!

There’s a single butthurt MAGAt downvoting everyone. Let’s all take a moment and imagine how sad that person’s life must be watching their hero fail.

My guess is it has something to do with the fact that you linked to what is essentially an anarchist website, hosting a very naive article written in 2010, arguing that all parties are the same in Australia, and urging people not to vote.

Since then, we’ve had Trump, who amply demonstrates that false equivalency is false… and of course, it’s about politics in Australia, and urges people not to vote.

I think the eye roll you got for that was awfully polite, given the circumstances.

Lmfao, I love all of the irrelevant (bar one - I guarantee any anarchist is more educated on politics than you are) reasons you’ve found to dismiss the content without addressing the content itself, which is absolutely relevant and applicable to all modern “democracies”. But hey, if you’re happier keeping your heads up your own asses, be my guests I guess…

And I love the irony of insulting someone’s intelligence while declaring the one group of people that intentionally disenfranchises itself to be “more educated on politics.”

Hey, how effective has the last 100 years of anarchism been at dismantling the state? Has the anarchist refusal to participate in voting resulted in a government they like anywhere?
