Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!
Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!
Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.
So, how’s it going?
Only because we all agree it is. If we get enough people to agree we could change it.
OK, let’s get a protest movement going
I think our biggest hurdle will be in convincing people that Christmas breaks should be further away, so I suggest we focus our campaign on retail workers and others that don’t get a proper Christmas break.
Thinking outside the box here why not campaign on changing it to Dec 2022?
How do we handle Christmas? Do we dig out last year’s stuff and give it again?
Well no, I mean when we change the clocks back from daylight saving we don’t feel compelled to repeat our actions of the previous hour.
Or do we? Is that what happens but I’m asleep and don’t see everyone doing it?
I typically repeat my action of the previous hour (sleeping) when the clocks change and it sounds like you do too.
But if we suddenly made it December 2022 and I hadn’t done any Christmas shopping, that would be an issue.
Good point.
You’re right. I was trying to find a compromise where the people who want their holiday sooner get it and the people who want less time to pass also get their wish.
Maybe Dec 26 2022?
That’s actually perfect (for me). Just wake up and there’s no work and all these public holidays.
A nightmare to wake up and find it’s suddenly boxing day if you work in retail though 😆
I like the idea of 13 - 28 day months and 1 day for new years day, and a bonus day every 4 years (or so)
Yeah, I was first introduced to this for apple app store sales some years ago that used a 13 month accounting callendar, which is used to make it easier to compare sales across periods (exactly 4 weeks means no issues with a month having more saturdays in some years).
I’d support a move to that system.
