The Chicago City Council approved a pro-ceasefire resolution in dramatic fashion on Wednesday, underscoring that the Israel-Hamas conflict is still causing deep divisions in the Democratic party.

The vote, which was delayed by an hour due to disruptions from protesters supporting the resolution, was so close that Mayor Brandon Johnson had to break the tie in favor of the measure. Its passage made Chicago the largest city in the country to call for an end to the conflict.

The resolution was non-binding, but the rancorous meeting reveals that the war in Gaza remains a fissure among Democrats — and one that’s unlikely to abate as the election year gets underway. Detroit, San Francisco and Atlanta city councils have also approved ceasefire resolutions.

      Break their support for israel?

      Yes.

If they do that it would strengthen hamas and more terrorist attacks will happen in israel and surrounding states.

On the contrary. The atrocities committed by the Israeli government as well as American complicity is exactly what Hamas craves.

They’re not a conventional military power that gets demoralized and loses from heavy losses. They’re a terrorist organization that grows by radicalizing victims and the loved ones of victims.

Though it might seem paradoxical, the more people (especially civilians) the Israeli government kills, the more hospitals, mosques and residential neighborhoods they destroy, the longer they deny the basic necessities for life from Gazans, the longer the US and the rest of the West keeps supporting the genocidal apartheid regime, the more influential and thus the more powerful Hamas grows.

Tl;dr: if you want to stop Hamas, you must stop the Israeli government atrocities.

If israel stops. Hamas grows again

You clearly either didn’t read, didn’t understand or ignored my reply.

I and almost all of the rest of the world abhor all terrorists, including Hamas.

That’s one of the many reasons why Israeli government atrocities must be stopped: to minimize the ability of Hamas to increase their influence and power to conduct terrorist attacks by radicalizing victims and the loved ones of victims.

Straight up dehumanizing language at the end there and if you dropped one or two salient points along the way, they are coated in that verbal diarrhea Trump misplaced.
