Donald Trump will soon receive controversial information from Special Counsel Jack Smith after the judge overseeing the former president’s criminal case over classified documents stashed at Mar-a-Lago, Judge Cannon, ordered the prosecutor to deliver the data.

Earlier on Friday, Cannon paused deadlines in a controversial order that special counsel Jack Smith had condemned as a “clear error” in the ex-president’s classified document case, according to court records and reports. Earlier this week, Cannon ordered Smith to deliver to her by Friday proposals for unredacted FBI interview witness reports that could appear on the public docket.

Smith warned about threats to people involved in the case, causing the earlier pause. But later on Friday, Cannon said the information still must be delivered to Trump and other defendants in the case, including Walt Nauta, according to the court docket.

At this point Cannon is probably aware she’s being too blatant in ignoring the law to defend Trump. She probably knows it will be reversed on appeal. But it’s a win-win for her - turn over the witness information is a win for Trump, or delay is a win for Trump. Being reversed later doesn’t have any negative effect for her or Trump.

It’s just a fealty test for her, maybe resulting in a promotion to the Court of Appeals if Trump is elected. If not, she’ll still sit in this judgeship until she dies or retires.

It’s moments like this that really drive home that we probably will spend the rest of our lives either undoing the damage done by the 2016 election and the four years that followed, or living under fascism.

The rest of our lives? The damage Reagan did is still here. This isn’t being undone.

Having most of your rulings overturned isn’t exactly helpful if you want to be appointed to a higher court, but at this point her career path is pretty much shot anyway.

I mean, if a narcissistic sociopath wants to give you a judgeship nomination, and your party controls the Senate and is a bunch of spineless toadies, it doesn’t matter how much you have been overturned. Being overturned is a job qualification for people who want to destroy the existing rule of law.
