Let me boil this down: We have a lot of gullible morons in America who can be easily bullshitted.

Putin’s freedom and probably his life depend on getting Trump back in office. That to me is one of the scariest data points of this entire election.

It’s scary how many bad people are hoping that Trump wins, from Putin and Xi and their fellow autocrats (e.g. Orban, Kim). Then there’s BB and his right wing cabinet, as Trump won’t give a fuck how many Palestinians die in the war.

All of American’s billionaires and business interests want the tax write off and general cronyism that he enables. And his far right support groups seem to be regrouping and growing.

If there’s going to be election malfeasance, it could come from a variety of sources, not necessarily the usual suspects.

Considering we have had almost a decade since the 2016 russian interference and absolutely sweet fuck-all has been done about that, I’m not surprised.

Like, they literally planted a corrupt moron in office and loaded up the judiciary with rapists and fascists, overturned a ton of environmental and consumer protections, gave trillions away to the richest people - all illegitimate, all should be walked back - nothing. A report. Detailing it all. That’s it.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

In addition, tech companies have rolled back their efforts to protect users from misinformation even as the government’s own attempts to combat the problem have become mired in debates about surveillance and censorship.

Noting similar campaigns in 2016 and 2020, security officials, democracy activists and disinformation researchers have warned for years that Russia, China, Iran and domestic groups within the U.S. will use online platforms to spread false and polarizing content designed to influence the race between Trump, a Republican, and President Joe Biden, a Democrat.

Warner’s assessment of America’s vulnerability comes just weeks after top security officials told the Intelligence Committee that the U.S. has greatly improved its ability to combat foreign disinformation.

AI programs have already been used to generate misleading content, such as a robocall that mimicked the voice of Biden telling New Hampshire voters not to cast a ballot in that state’s primary.

Attempts by federal agencies to communicate with tech companies about disinformation campaigns have been complicated by court cases and debates over the role of government in monitoring political discourse.

Meta, the owner of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, prohibits information that interferes with election processes and regularly removes foreign influence operations when it identifies them.

The original article contains 561 words, the summary contains 201 words. Saved 64%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

More connected and not as savvy at filtering out bullshit = more gullible to manipulayion by state actors.
