I just use DND - Not sure what you mean by “DND still makes you receive the notifications”
You mean like Critical Alerts? I think they’re rare enough and potentially important enough that I’d like to get them
Then don’t say it.
Just a shower thought…
…not a sermon?
I recently bumped my monthly instance donations by 20%.
I hope to be able to cover as many folks who can’t afford it as I can…
You’re right and Lemmy.ml’s reputation has contributed to my hesitation in donating to development. But I also use Mastodon pretty regularly and I haven’t contributed to its development either. I have no explanation.
I made this post hoping to get some input on how folks divvy donations up amongst the three and maybe pressure myself into doing it.
You just sent me on a real journey. In high school if you’d asked me or my friends, we would have told you I was a huge Pink Floyd fan.
When I thought about what my favorite album was I realized all I really knew were pretty basic-bitch albums. DSOTM, The Wall, Is there Anybody Out There; and Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
Then I started thinking about how I could feel like such a fan and only have so few albums. Then I realized this was before music was pervasively available to listen to for free at any time.
I distinctly remember the day I decided I was splurging on The Wall double CD set. I’d been stalking it at the record store for months, but it was $30 in 1994 (that’s sixty-five inflation adjusted dollars in 2025!) so I’d kept passing on it despite desperately wanting it.
TL;DR: I’m old but now I’m catching up on some good music I’d missed out on
I can’t think of an explanation for the periodic grid like clusters. Anyone?
It’s probably at least partially something adjacent to survivorship bias. The most remarkable actions of the past that “survive” to the present to be retold are the ones that were most impactful.
But all of the current protests you feel are not as impactful help build a foundation for the more impactful ones.
I have it set to automatically open in reader mode in Safari/iOS. I assume other browsers/OSes have a similar feature.
I’m only 6 miles from a grocery store but just having moved from a major metropolitan area to a small city in a rural area has been a shock.
I cannot caution you enough. You’re right to be hesitant. If it’s possible do a long term stay before you consider it. And I mean like a month or two minimum. It’s got to be long enough for you to get over being in a “new and interesting” place so you can really experience what day to day life is like.
What frustrates me is how we, especially on the left, tend to fumble these moments. Instead of recognizing that some of these people might be waking up, we rush to humiliate them
Ok - on the one hand we could permanently convert one of these folks from a die hard to a never-Trumper.
But on the oooooother hand we could get some social media juice making another tired Leopards Eating Faces joke. It’s really a toss up, ya know?
This can’t possibly go over well with the rank and file
Let me ask you a question: how do you feel about frilly toothpicks?
No - I got it after your first reply. I was trying (and failing) to make my own joke about the ambiguity of “There’s wrong words” being possessive or a contraction.
So we’re talking about their and why then?
A fly that uses a button closure instead of the typical zipper.
Levi’s 501s being the canonical example…
Unfortunately zero-indexed Mondays are the only sane way to live life…
