This seems like a worse own goal than “defund the police” as a slogan, best of intentions but the execution was so bad.

I’d put heavy money on Republicans running chunks of this interview hard during the run up to the midterms.

I have a sinking fear this will be one of those tragicomic moments of earnest, well intentioned progressives inadvertently helping trump, like when many sat out the 2024 election in a misguided attempt to somehow help Palestinians.

They make up roughly half the population, to some extent. You aren’t going to make any progress in the US, without them.

        Half of the voting population.

Not necessarily. FOX News isn’t being broadcast exclusively to registered Republican voters. It has a massive reach in the US. Even folks that don’t watch it exclusively, are still exposed to it through other sources.

Most of the narratives being pushed through FOX, are then repeated word-for-word, through local subsidiary stations, that regular people all across the country watch as their local news, regardless of which party they typically vote for.

Given that the Republicans won the popular vote, that’s a wildly… Interesting position.

This time they won a plurality, with help of foreign interference, but they’re the only party to win while losing the popular vote every time it has occured in the past many decades.

In other words, it’s even more important to convince Republican voters to switch.

Running up the margins in blue states doesn’t help.
