Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

I’ve finally got a van to work out of again, rather than trying to fit a van’s worth of gear into a Corolla.

It’ll take me a while to work out how to best fit everything in, but it’s an improvement.

How much kids pee is too much to wear to work?

I had to make the hard call this morning after getting a wet patch on my arm as I was getting ready to leave. In the end I decided a 3x3cm patch was too much so I changed my shirt, was I wrong?

Wore my slippery shoes thinking it was going to be sunny and dry.

    It isn’t.

Now I’ll be shuffling like Professor Farnsworth everywhere today.

I’m kinda tired today. But I went for a walk this morning and feel a bit better now. Just want to go home and practice some guitar and drums.

I’ve always wanted to be able to setup a small home gym.

Finally have the space to do it, and pulled the plug over the weekend :)

Just (im)patiently waiting on it to arrive, and then Ill be onto the challenge of how to set it all up.

Is it good because you’ll have a sustainable population? Or bad because you’ll have no population at all?

No population at all at the moment. Might change when the weather cools. My swan plants are the “giant” variety and grow about 10 foot tall, so sustainability isn’t usually as big of a problem it is for people with little plants.

I can’t find where the wasps have their lair yet. It’s annoying because the internet says spray individuals with flyspray then run away, but running isn’t really an option for me.

The homeowner says they’re going to cut down 3 of my 5 plants soon so it’s a pity they didn’t get used.

          Oh wow, 10ft!

If you sit and watch, if the lair is nearby then you will probably see a steady stream of wasps coming and going from the same direction.

But once you find the lair, working out how to do something about it without the “run” step might still be difficult.

Yeah this is the problem. I’m not seeing a stream of anyone and I’ve wandered all over the area. They’re Aussie paper wasps so normally their lairs are easier to spot from a distance than yellowjackets but the wasps themselves are harder.

If I can find it, they’re toast. The trick to killing wasps is to go out on a dark night, with all your skin covered, and suffocate them. No running required.

I’m imagining you sneaking up behind them and suffocating each one like in video games.

He heh! now I’m imagining using stealth archery against them with a tiny bow and some toothpicks.

My old Senheiser HD 598s stopped working recently. Sound only came from one of the speakers. I took them apart to see if I could spot any issues but it all looked good. I tried wiring the working speaker to the not working speaker and that made the speaker work. I then thought the issue might be the wiring through the headband so I added new wire but that still didnt work. I ended up doing more testing and settling on the issue being the right output for the headphone jack and since I couldn’t find a replacement part I am gonna have to throw them out.

On the positive note im getting a lot better at soldering and more confident taking things apart and soldering the wires around. Now I just got to wait for the next thing to break so I can attempt to fix it.

Well done! I like to think of myself as an excellent solderer, but every time I try to solder the stupid enamel wires they use in (cheap) headphones it ends up some kind of hideous mess. Next time, I’ll have to make new cables from scratch just so I don’t have to deal with it.
