What counts as “official”? Russian state media has been singing his praises for years, and he recently sat down with putin himself to let him spew his bullshit about the war. There’s really nothing that distinguishes him from “official” Russian media besides the fact that he isn’t russian.

I assume it’s indirect benefits rather than receiving checks directly from the Kremlin, but yeah I’m pretty sure he’s getting something.
