If you count all the war crimes committed by US soldiers, regardless of who was president, you will come to the conclusion that the US is an imperial, colonial, exploitative power.

The US waged war on Iraq’s infrastructure and destroyed large numbers of public assets setting the country back decades simply to make war on a budget. The one thing putting the brakes on the far right in Australia is the fluke that we put compulsory voting into our constitution (it was an experiment at the time, I’m inclined to think it worked out). While we have, perhaps, more than our share of fucked up rabid racist assholes, they have to get over the hump of the majority of not shitty people, and so far it’s failed to happen. The Overton window, neoliberals and Murdoch media have done significant damage but some sense of sanity prevails.
